I was assistant manager at an Oreilly’s auto parts and got fired on bogus grounds. I believe the manager was threatened by me because he could sense I was gunning for his job. Which I was, and would’ve gotten it because dude was a lazy sack of bacon with bad attitude. Oh well. He paid me $8.13 per hour for assistant manager so f that place
I can tell you for a fact that shit pay and broken promises are the norm at O'Reilly. I worked there for four years and never made more than $8.85 an hour before I got fed up and left in June 2020. Meanwhile new hires were getting over $9.25 an hour. (which is still absolute dogshit for the bullshit you go through, but anyway) The shitty scheduling is also an endemic thing there, I would work stretches of multiple WEEKS with no days off due to people calling in (I began to think it was on purpose) on the one day a week I would be scheduled off, and if I was lucky enough to get two days in a week off it would almost never be consecutive and never on a weekend. I think my longest stretch was a little over 40 consecutive days, and never got overtime pay for that. There was one month out of 4 years that I had a consistent schedule and actually got weekends off because I was the store driver when I wasn't babysitting new hires, and another employee got mad that I had that, tried to take it from me, and quit when the manager wouldn't screw me over, which also screwed me over. The only reason I even stayed was because I loved working with the dudes that I started with. Once they were gone, I quickly realized just how much O'Reilly sucks as a place to work. I watched that place destroy the last manager I had who was a really good dude, and it broke my heart watching that job break him.
I'm currently building this truck. From my perspective there are a lot of modifications you need to complete the kit. The plastic axles aren't strong enough to hold the wheels, eventually they break and you'll need to fabricate metal ones. The cab doesn't fit properly on the completed chassis even when you follow the diagrams. Some of the hoses need to be modified to fit both ends of a connection, such as the air intake. With a Dremel tool, pair of snippers and hobby knife you can get most of the truck together.
same with working at Advance Auto parts. Jobs like this should be only for young adults age 18-21 tops who wants either a part time gig learning about cars or just extra money that interests them about cars.
I live close to that yard. It's been over 40 years since I was able to buy anything out of there. The owners stopped selling from what I've been told. For years, every time I drove past, I thought it was such a shame to see all those classics rusting away.
Quite a few good cars in their Sean😊 I like that firebird friend of mine had a motor in his Pontiac like that one accused him of Niger rigging it and making it not real
That's the only thing bad about this time of year in FL. Shows will be great when the rain and humidity go away. Take care, stay safe my friend. I'm in Tampa myself. I really don't do many shows in the summer.
