Hey there, I see you threw this together very quickly great build. I had a question. I have a 98 540 I V8 and I just did new injectors they have square clips that hold the injectors onto the fuel rail, but then when you put the fuel injectors into the intake manifold there’s those injector connector clips, which are like paper clips, were you able to install all of those? They’re an absolute pain in the ass and I really can’t get them back on I know they’re kind of redundant because the fuel rail is bolted down in some spots. Just wanted to know if you got yours installed or if you didn’t use them thanks.
That’s a great home diy video for what is a very effective diagnostic test. I have same car 97 540/6 sport in Oxford green metallic . Also used that method on My newly acquired 91 850/6 and boy did that have leaks.( has been garage stored for 8 years. So much smoke under the hood lol.) resealed intake system, new injectors w Orings , replaced entire fuel and ignition system too. Fired up instantly and idles beautifully. Cold starts are perfect… Old bmws sure do love to leak, especially oil. - the only thing that isnt leaking on my 540 is the rear main seal. Maybe if I had gotten the car with less than 95,000 miles the low temp thermostat I added could’ve helped- oh well , there still fantastic cars to drive especially with the 6speed manual. I wonder if they’ll ever become a desirable classic?
Can you do a tutorial on how to remove the coil pack computer boxes? I’m having trouble getting them disconnected from the alternator on my 98 non vanos 540i
Nice Diy bro I bet if you replaced your resonators with another glasspack it would sound even more good. If I had the means to weld i'd probably have a custom exhaust system running out of my tesla 😂
A Very solid used E39 540i/6 sport with a lot of life left in it because it was so well built from the Factory. You will need about $2 k to $2.5 k to put it right if you can do most of the work yourself. I hope you know that. Best wishes.

My ls1 has a little shake it's annoying when you stop at a red light took it to a couple mechanics they dnt know what the problem is one told me it's the engine mounts changed them the problem is still there
The 97/98 540i/6 has really grown on me with their Style 19 BBS wheels, factory sport suspension, it really gives it a muscle car look and the fact that this is the M62B44 pre-VANOS it is a much simpler engine to work on, if you take it to a shop it's a big chunk off of the major services because you don't have to take off the VANOS unit. You lose out on 8hp and 15ft-lb/tq, IMO a worthwhile tradeoff for not having the added VANOS headache when it comes time to replace the Timing Chains and Guides. Not to say the post-VANOS 540s aren't fantastic but for a drivers car the 97/98 are a great buy.
