This is a terrific film but has to be watched again right away. All the puzzle pieces scattered around at first watch made us think: What did we just watch?! So we replayed it. (By the way, this is a hard to find film.) Ah, Hung is making a complex and complicated story with a ton of symbolism and metaphors in the analogy on how good and evil are relative and why. The mega violence is hard to stomach in places. The Asian actors should have been allowed to speak in their first language with subtitles. Those are weaknesses. But the performances are outstanding and cinematography, too. This is definitely an art house film that requires a bit of sophistication in interpreting unconventional film making. I can def see why Hartnett wanted to work with this renowned director.
The movie is not for everyone and, in retrospect, should have been shot in a variety of languages rather than different thick accents attempting English. That said, it's a deep, trippy, brilliantly photographed and acted film with a very original approach to cinema's archetypes: the cop, the psycho, the gangster. This is another beautiful film by an awesome filmmaker. People who hate it were probably expecting another pearl harbor.
True, true, true. We watched it then rewatched it right away to put all the puzzle pieces together. ❤️ it! Def an art house film that is brilliant film making. Non-linear story lines, outstanding performances by an international cast and renowned director. A gem for cinephiles.
And also, I got relatives in Switzerland, Austria, Finland, Wales, Mallorca Spain, Portugal, Lichtenstein, and Malta who hate him. Not many countries welcome this liberal trouble-making tool. If Josh knows what's good for him, he best stay away from these countries. Nice guy, my ass!! Overrated, too. Fuck him!
This looks shit. How this wash up Josh goes around so much while making low budget crappy films is beyond me. I hope and pray that he stays the fuck away from Argentina, Antarctica, Siberia, Mankato, St. Cloud, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Manila, Ilocos, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and Alaska if he knows what's good for him. Because those places have friends of mine whom Josh had done pretty shitty things to back in the days. Eat shot, Josh!
Radiohead climbing up the walls is the soundtrack *.* this movie is on yuotube is awasome i just watched beacause josh hartnett on it *.* hotttt its a true real life movie
Too bad the director / producer is a french guy born in Vietnam, and have nothing to do with the US. But you guys in the US like to say "everything is ours", so I don't even start a pointless conversation.
A really deceptive trailer. Looks like an action packed thriller. In reality, it's an absurdly scripted acid trip. It never seems to settle on the point of the film. Instead, it just jumps about randomly. The story isn't grounded in reality at all.
