ChinnyVision 2, the secondary channel to ChinnyVision where I put rough around the edges tat and other stuff I don't want cluttering up the main channel.
I remember YS had a section in it where they reviewed books and other media. At least I remember it having one. That was the first place I came across The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. A series that became a foundation of my reading taste throughout the rest of my life.
I shall watch this one first seeing as you released two episodes at the same time. Simply because this was named as episode 12 and the other 13. I don't know why, just makes sense in my head. Good to see you still uploading content. *edit* I should say that there wasn't just the Barrowlands Market that you could get knock-off games from, Paddy's Market was another place where you could get any number of copied games from, generally at a cheaper price than you would pay at the Barrowlands. I remember paying 50p for a copy of Flying Shark on the speccy from Paddy's Market. The whole place did smell though and it was noisy being under the train tracks.
I forgot to put ep 12 public back when it was released in August. It was uploaded but not put live. Hence both today as I uploaded 13, put that live and went 'oh'.
I Had The Same Problem As You, Unfortunately Now Mine Is In A Repair State, So I Tried To Do A Factory Reset, And It Won’t Even Do That, I’ve Had It A Little Over A Year, And It Started Messing Up On Me. And It’s Worked Fine Up To Now. I’m About To Take It Outside And Slam It On My Concrete, To Get The HardDrive Out, Thanks For The Video
The final issue had approx 70 pages with barely any adverts and was a great read. If you did get a copy then its resale value was huge. Got about 25 quid for mine.
Funny to see the Cisco Heat video in that long list of videos. I really enjoyed your summary rant at the end of it 😆. Always really enjoy your videos and find them very well made and interesting.
Special interest RU-vid channels (no matter how brilliant) are so passe these days. Though apparently Vegan restaurants/arcade bars is where the REAL money is at! 👍 Silliness aside. It's lovely to hear from you again, Chinny!
Disappointed by the RU-vid Premium, I was led to believe that content creators I watched got a fair share of the monthly fees I am paying, which is how I justify it to myself.
£4.00?!?!? You Tube monetization a joke...A lot of effort for very little reward. Subscribe to you and a lot of retro game tubers greatful for what you all do and the work you put in to give us our childhood gaming nostalgia fix
The £4 is because I do not monetise the main channel and never have. The only place I run adverts is on the non retro computer content on this 2nd channel.
I'm actually impressed by those figures. Given ChinnyVision covers a niche of a niche of a subculture, to have multiple thousands of views per video seems pretty good.
You’ve got to do it for the love. I certainly don’t have time to put content out weekly, let alone daily. Our podcast has always been very popular but RU-vid takes a hell of a lot of commitment and possibly a bit of luck. I’ve always found your channel a top class production & interesting to me. 👍
As a random counterpoint, I did monetise to try and get youtube promotion but otherwise as you know don't cater to worldwide audiences much. My total lifetime is £185.64 as of today. My age breakdown recently is near exactly yours, as is the country except I get considerably fewer from the UK although it's still the largest. My average view time as a percentage is not dissimilar either. All of which suggests that not entirely dissimilar channels get about the same stats. That may not be science.
Pretty much. I can see how people can become slaves to it and end up doing clickbaity type videos because the monster must be fed. A popular current video will feed back onto your older videos and momentum helps push the channel forward. But if you stop or slow down you don't get that push. And if you are relying on that ad money for income you have no choice but to keep pushing unless you are one of the lucky few who 'make it' and end up with a couple of million subs.
If you want titles the best way to do them is offer a quick preview of the content up front then have something very short. But again I'm not having to worry about numbers of getting people through to the next ad slot.
One day,We will get something out there for rarely seen classic TV shows that barely seen on our screens on physical media. And it will be a unexpected surprise to see again.
Did you return the fake card because I think I've just received the identical same card! Have used SanDisk as a main stay for some years which is why my suspensions were first aroused, like you with the packaging. Without looking to closely at the printed packing I got ready with the scissors as you do with SanDisk only to find the card cut very easily, as you say thinner than normal. It wasn't until I cut the card just below the dotted line that I noticed the RHS of the pack was not sealed at all, no nothing! The plastic bubble that holds the card just fell out, and as you found, no plastic seal to keep the card and adaptor protected, that's a first. The RescuPro membership that SanDisk give you with the bigger cards as you say used to be printed on a small card tucked inside the pack or printed on the inside of the cardboard packing. I purchased the card as having the RescuePro included and there is a mention of it in the text on the back of the pack but the RescuePro Logo is missing from the pack, this I'm told is also a good identifier to the product been a fake. Thanks for your post, it's just reaffirmed to me that the card I've bought is almost certainly a fake, I have it running through H2testw right now!
Sunday night is usually the worst time to go on eBay as it's full of people trying to put off thinking about going back to work. I accidentally bought a Psion netbook the night you recorded this.
I threw a minimum bid on a VIC-20 last week as a placeholder, then totally forgot about it until I got the email asking me to pay for it. Not many people after the old VICs apparently - or everyone else spotted some large red flag that I somehow missed.
I'm still alive. Intended to do something on the main channel by now but real life took over. So a quickie on a Sunday night just to show I am still breathing.
@chinnyvision2 I have Retrotink 5x Pro with the latest firmware 3.71 and confirm I can see the same shimmering on ZX Spectrum 48k. You said you fixed it? Can you explain how exactly you fixed it? Which settings?
Loved Amtix it appealed to my sense of humour. What we all want to know though is did Saffron Trevaskis actually exist? I'm suspecting some shenanigans there.
Thank you, very useful! I bought a stream deck pedal yesterday and it works perfect for 3 functions hardware actionable by foot, thus it is also a coordination exercise and hands-free asset in games.
