I think it's because mass media, including but not limited to news media, is the true sovereign of this country. The best evidence for this is the correlation between the decline in mass media's influence (at the hands of social media users) and the rise of national disorder. When the sovereign retreats, so goes order. Although the people ostensibly have control (direct/indirect) over their government, it is the mass media that has control over the people. (The people can be blamed for this in some cases, but mass media often influences the public in ways that are quite subtle & sophisticated.) In recent times, mass media has demonstrated a surprising degree of alignment and solidarity on some issues. There's something to be said for the notion that those in media, and especially news media, simply "know best." But for some reason they've lost the ability to meet the people where they are and guide them toward their enlightened position - instead, the tendency today is for mass media to assert its consensus positions (or critical presuppositions of their positions) as self-evident. I don't know if this is new, but if things did used to be different and less dogmatic, then I suspect a main factor driving this shift is the mass media's recognition of its own immense power. At any rate, I feel this is the primary reason for the public's sense of powerless. On some level the public does recognize mass media for the tyrant it is (or can be.) The tyrant does not appear to be acting in their best interests, for if media were acting in their interest, why is it often so reluctant to explain quite how?

Everyone talks about teachers needing pay increases but no one says how much they should be paid. $60k a year would equate to $30/hr and that’s including 10 hours of OT a week which is a very generous estimate. That’s still 40 hours less than a typical 40 hour a week position and 500 less hours than a typical salaried position. If teachers worked a full year at $25/hr they would earn $62K a year. Maybe schools should go year around to get that $60k they want.

World population is still today rising and rising, overpopulation is a real problem, especially in poor countries and in poor patriarchic, radical religious families who are misogynistic. earth doesnt deserve the abuse and exploitation of homo sapiens. we need in future a replacement rate, poor people need to proof that they can afford to raise mentally and financially children. arable land shrink day by day, fossil drinkwater is gone, nature and biodiversity gets more and more destroyed. for the dignity of coming generations, to prevent child suffering, there must be placed a global regulation and replacement rate of population. china is better of with the one child policy and aging society than dealing with 5 billion poor, hungry children and adult, living in horrible condition. the current situation is much better than the scenario that was awaiting them. also , scientist avoid now talking about replacement rate and regulation because they fear , now they invent new modern terminology like "cycle system" , which is completely unrealistic, when arable land is gone, when fossil water is gone, it can not cheaply replaced by any other thing, and distribution doesnt solve anything in a world with ending, limited factors, like water and forrests.
