Great Video👌, i like the flow! I think a lot of men still do this behind closed doors and don't talk about it as open as they might have back then. So maybe not so different after all. People are just super sexual beings!
Sounds like a lot of fun" but then i think, can you imagine the amount of STDs" and diseases they must have had and with no treatment at the time 😱. "Lots of strange smells and funny looking infected body parts. 😮
You're so right. In hindsight it sounds like quite an illustrious affair, but in reality it was a little gross to think about the fact they hadn't had the sexual health services that we do have today. Especially with how rampant their "Sex Lives" really were. I'm sure there were a lot of unpleasant issues, due to sexually transmitted infections.
Agreed... The story is bizarre and the only person to control the narrative was Nero. And what a twisted narrative that was. Sporus definitely had become an object or possession to Nero, to which we get to witness in the story.
You are right. We definitely need more knowledge of this incredible story. I don't think I've ever seen a TV show or a movie depicting, Mansa Musa the Emperor or of the Mali Empire. It would make for an intriguing story to be told in full. 🌍
Mariah Carey is a serious power house alright. I love this song so much. It always gets me in the festive spirit. It's good to find out how it all started. It's a really good video. 👌😊
To those interested in this video, I recommend "The Persian Boy," the second book in Mary Renault's fictional trilogy on Alexander the Great. Bagoas, the central figure in "The Persian Boy," was a real-life Persian eunuch who became Alexander's servant and lover.
My favorite of all of Renault's books, and Bagoas is my favorite of all characters in her books, real or fictional. Renault treated gay people with real understanding and sympathy.
@@richardcleveland8549 I would have to say Laurie O'Dell from The Charioteer is my favorite, though Bagoas is certainly one of the most intricate, milti-layered and extremely believable characters ever created, by Renault or anyone else. His torn allegiances and occasional self contradictions make him just that much more fragile and, ultimately, likeable.
Yes, I am sure there was more to the story and Spòrus personal history with possible alot of twists and turns. During the Roman times I am sure most of the time Sporus was both well clothed and well fed. I am sure Sporus had personal slaves and servents. The Roman's are noted in history for there cruel actions and behaviors.
I think we all feel for him and his story in one of extraordinary challenges and pain. I'd love to find some information on his thoughts on all this and how he really felt about his life with Nero
@@hopehope938he had his genitals forcibly removed and was forced to perform sexual acts on someone. That isn't love or romance. It's rape and abuse. It's unhealthy and it's evil behavior. It's not normal
Well our current world is everyday getting cruel and brutal. So it seems there is a pattern of excesses and extremes as things speed up and become more dangerous. Most people do not know about or understand history.
Yeah I think the world is as messed up and twisted as it's ever been. Unfortunately a lot of it gets covered up by the big power people, who control the narrative.
I don’t mind you using the graphics from the covers of my Nero and Sporus trilogy, some of which is already available from Amazon, but if you’re going to use images from my book, I would appreciate it you would give the book a brief plug - thanks! The first volume, DELICATUS (the cover of which you’ve used several times in the video) has received three literary awards so far and the second, IMPERATRIX, is due out in a couple of weeks. It is of course a fascinating story and your video is very well done. I might actually link to it on my web page.
I really appreciate your reaching out I will definitely add all your details to the video. I would be honoured if you add a link to your website page. If you could forward me all details to my email strangerthanfiction.711@gmail.com I will make the amendments necessary, also I wish you every success with your new book as this story is such a fascinating part of history that has stuck with me ever since I first became aware of Sporus and Nero's unique to say the least, relationship.
@@Strangerthanfiction-rw4xi I’m going to put in the link within the next few hours and will send to you. Thanks for publicizing this really interesting subject.
@@deborahgallegos5334 Well, this solution is mutually beneficial. There are only a few images from my books in his video, but he uses them effectively.
To know how he felt about his life would be interesting. It's a dark story alright. I wonder because of it's time, and with it being all he knew. What kinda way would his mind have been. What would his story have been from his own perspective. Unfortunately we may never know. 🙁
@@veryunusual126Sporus didn't castrate himself; Nero ordered his servants to strip Sporus and had his apothecary basically cut off the youth's scrotum. This was for two reasons 1) to assert his sexual dominance over the beautiful boy and mark him as his, and 2) to halt his sexual development at that stage (in the same way boy choristers used to be made castrati to prevent their viices breaking with the advent of puberty) in order that he would retain his smooth, and desirable youthful body.
@@Strangerthanfiction-rw4xi Yes, it’s pretty sad. Apparently he became the Mistress of Otho during his three month reign. Upon Otho’s death, Sporus may have been executed by Vitellieus, himself to have a short reign. The child, who seems to have had little agency in this whole sad affair, perhaps sums up the potential cruelties in the life of a Roman slave.
@@marial8235 Otho may have thought, in some weird way, that having Sporus would legitimize his claim to the throne. Or it could be Sporus' resemblance to Poppea led him to take the boy; Poppea was married to Otho before she was married to Nero.
Noted. You do get to see the full picture after the writing disappears for a moment, before it goes to the next scene. But I will definitely keep that in mind for future video's. Thank you 👍
It really is quite an understatement alright.👍 I wonder how he felt about the life he was forced into and how he navigated life with Nero, a man that seemed very unhinged.
@@Strangerthanfiction-rw4xi How do you feel about not working 12 hours a day 6 days a week. We just accept our lot when it is the way of world while we're alive.
I think the world is just as crazy now as it was then. It's just the governments and media are so corrupt and propaganda based, it's hard to get the truth these days. The world was and will always be crazy!🤣 😂😂
I love this. 👍 Ive always wondered how RU-vid got started. The story is awesome, how three colleagues got together and came up with an idea that has become one of the biggest platforms to ever exist. RU-vid legends! 👏👏👏👏
Kevin Hart is definitely a surprise. He seems like he's only in the game, a hot minute. Specially when some on the list have had a lifelong career. He must be doing something right. 💪
It was like a museum of unique history. Maybe the reason the residents didn't want to leave was due to a great sense of community or maybe the freedom they had from the laws outside that didn't apply to them. 😱👍
I like that definition... Kowloon Walled City a Museum Of Unique History. Unfortunately it's long gone. Luckily there's still great fascination about the amazing structure. 👌
I think a lot of them didn’t know any different way of life. And I think a lot of them felt that was their home, no matter the condition. Also to know they weren’t part of a social construct.
Lol, just a too crowded place for the struggling group of hongkies stuck there. Not willing migrate away from hong Kong. But better than poor area of India.
It was definitely crowded. I can't imagine what it would have been like to live there. At the same time a lot of the residents fought to stay there. So there was Obviously something they liked about it.
