Located in southwestern PA. We have a deep history with steel production, coal, and the whiskey rebellion. This area was populated early in our country’s life and so this channel is the search for that lost history through metal detecting.
Great job recovering those dimes! That last one really makes you think about all the scratchy, odd signals. Switching the coils up was also nice to see. I do the same if the site is trashy enough. I just got the M15 in the mail a few days ago, and good to see you using it out on the field! I'm hoping to do the same here this fall. Oddly enough, I haven't seen many people using the M15. It's almost always the M8, M9, or M11! I'd love to see more M15 footage!
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍. I'm definitely thinking about all the other scratchy signals I walked away from that day. Can't wait to get back in there and research the area again with a different frequency. I'm trying to use the M15 more and the big fields are a great place for it. I used it at the beach in my last video and it worked well. I'm liking it and the pinpoint is a lot better with it than other large coils I've used with other machines. But like most large coils, the signals don’t come back as sharp and crisp as with the smaller coils will.
Can't take anyone to those fields per the landowner but if I get on some other fields this fall I will keep you in mind 👍. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks, it was a good night. I found my share of vapes in Virginia Beach last year and was surprised I didn't find any until the last night in OC. I guess that is the times we live in 🤣. Thanks for watching and commenting.
That was the first time detecting there. Definitely enjoyed detecting there and found some good things including gold. Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you are having a great summer.
the "Sandbonis" come all the way to high tide line run from the inlet to the MD line. best places imo would be either side of the pier down at the inlet lot people down there for just day and has the most people. after that would from 94th street to 120th street
Thanks for the info, this was my first time detecting in OC. I stayed at around 40th street and detected from around 95th to down to 15th. I want to detect lower the next time there. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you have a great summer.
So did you find a cut? I did well on the dry sand this year, 9 rings no gold, the wet just did not seem filled with targets. Congrats on the silver. Thanks for sharing.
The last night I detected was the 4th of July and high tide hit hard that evening. Where I chose to detect didn’t have a cut but when I was on my way back to my place there was a big area that got cut out from the high tide earlier. It was late and didn’t have time to detect it much. Wish I had seen it when I was starting, I would have hit it all night. The same for me, the wet didn’t have lots of signals for me either. The sand felt soft and it didn’t firm up till the end of the week, only deep targets. I did hunt the dry more this trip but the good targets came out of the high wet area to high tide lip line dry. I did manage to get (1) piece of gold and some silver. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I am liking the M9, still need to get more time on it but seems to be a great coil. I am still working on the setting with the M8 but I'm noticing I need to swing the M8 slower to not miss good-sounding targets. Good targets if gone over like I would with the M11 sound quick and chirpy but gone over slower sound better. Still working with them but the M9 doesn't seem to be that way and the depth seems good too for being a 9” coil. To early to tell depth between the M8 & M9 but 9 is better. I have a good spot to try them both out, an old house site with lots of iron but waiting for it to be hopefully mowed. I am looking forward to using it in the woods this winter. The 11 is JUST too big for most woods and I want to move through areas quickly to find the hot spots then go slow and steady with either the M9 or switch to the M8. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you are enjoying the videos and you are getting out to detect.
Yes, it does but It only lights up down the shaft. Neat feature but for videoing at night a headlamp keeps the light on what I’m videoing. I would have to run both because I move the detector away to dig. Just one less thing I have to turn on and turn off at each target. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you enjoy my videos and are getting out detecting 👍.
LOL, I just found one of those chicken cookie cutters a week or so ago. And onto the Merc. "44, whooo, that's me..... get some cold cuts, get some cold cuts"
Nice video man. Been digging up the Santa Fe here in Kansas for a few years now. Never know what you'll find! Best find was an 1852 gold dollar and i didn't even have to detect it! Right on top of a plowed field!!
Wow a gold coin, congrats on an awesome find! Doesn't matter how you find it, as long as you find it! Hoping one day one will accidentally jump into my finds bag, just once 😁. Thanks for watching and commenting, be safe out there, and happy hunting!
Hello buddy, thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoy my channel, I try to keep it interesting. I hope to get to Europe some day to detect 👍. Be safe and hope all your holes are full of treasures!
Did you get a year off the large cent? My third coin i found four months into detecting i found an 1810 Classic Head large cent. At that point I was still learning and not hunting much, but after that i was hooked lol
That is awesome 👍 great old find. Those really old coins don't come up too often for me. Finding 200-year coins definitely can get you hooked, congratulations. I was unable to get a date off that Matron, it was too far gone. The soil conditions weren't good to that old girl. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks….I loved the E-Trac! Wish it was balanced better and water proof though. It was definitely an awesome machine and I still take it out on occasion. Thanks for watching & commenting 👍
Thanks for the kind words & thanks for watching. I do love farm hunting too, it’s slow going until you find that hot spot then it’s exciting to see what can come out of the ground. Happy hunting 👍.
Thanks….The bugger rang up as a (12) on the Manticore. If it was in a trashy area I would have probably just walked past it. Now I need to go back to all the (12) I left and dig them up….if I can remember where they all are 🤣🤣. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I agree, all the finds up to now point to that time period. Anything old with good details has been late 30’s…early 40’s….All the older coin I’ve found there have been carried for a bit and worn. Happy hunting to you and Merry Christmas.
Hello from across the pond 👋. Thanks for the sub and thanks for watching & commenting. I also have an 800 that ended up being my backup to my E-trac then CTX3030. I love the quick response of the 800 but really love a 2D screen display of the E-trac and CTX. The Manticore seems to be giving me both so I am liking it. Not saying it’s the best of both worlds but it’s definitely better for me between those two machines 👍.
Hey George , thanks for watching and commenting. With agreement with the owner of that farm, I’m not allowed to bring guests with me…yet. He had some issues with a group of detectorists before not respecting him or his land. He denied me permission for awhile before earning his trust. I am working on new permission and hope to be able to detect them soon with guests. I will keep you posted if I have anything open up and I have any hunts that aren’t short notice.
@@robbingtommyknocker5800 I found a seated half dime this past spring. That was a bucket lister for me! We got permission at this old farm house that was already hit hard. We ventured out into the field and still nothing. I got over a nice high tone and popped a seated dime. Called my buddy over and we searched the area real good and we found 13 seated coins in a 50 yard area. Not sure if it was a coin purse that got dropped and scattered or what. The Old maps did not show a structure in the field.
