fuckin awesome riffin and tones dude. I just ordered one of the beta 200 amps lol I also have an orange 2x12 cab, has a v30 and creamback in it - did you notice any volume issues playing through yours? would it be loud enough for band rehearsal or live scenario? trying to figuire out if I should rewire my speakers in parallel instead of in series how it comes since the amp is 4ohms andmy cab is rated for 16ohms
POR FAVOR, NO ENGAÑES A LA GENTE!!! Are you saying that you cant hear any difference between the 5222 and the signature model when Its plugged in? That is interesting. I honestly have thoughts about buying the signature model. But if there arn't any difference in the sound I think I go for the 5222. The signaturen model is quite expensive.
Great vid and great looking guitar! Could you be a little more specific on the "generic" tuning pegs you got off ebay for this? You're my inspiration for my g5222 build and mine is not holding intonnation. Looking for the "specs" of your bridge and tuning peg upgrade. Thank you in advance!!
Great video! I have the same guitar and couldn’t agree more with your comments on the build quality...amazing actually! I'm in the process of working out the best Malcolm mod setup. I've been gigging with it a lot so far just with the neck pickup removed, 12-56 guage Ernie Ball (Not Even Slinky), usually run through a Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 100-watt and I use a J. Rockett Audio Designs Rockett 45. Calibre pedal (which emulates a 1962 JTM 45). You said you are using the TV Jones Powertrons...just curious why you went for those over the TV Jones Classic Plus? I think they both have similar output but read somewhere that Malcolm's guitar tech would go for the TV Jones Classic Plus...
I guess someone could, but me and my wife walked into a guitar store and amongst all the guitars on the wall I walked up to one of these and said wow that’s a cool guitar I’d love to have it. She said why would you want one of those it looks like an old man’s country guitar. I said it’s a poor man’s Malcolm Young guitar. Gretsch knew what they were doing when they put it out. By the way every single Gretsch I’ve picked up in the last five years has felt incredible from the 299 bolt on solid bodies all the way up to the 4,000 dollar semi hollows, so I think the fact that you can buy this guitar for less than 500 bucks and it’s obviously aimed towards fans of Malcolm ( the best rock rhythm player of all time) is awesome and I think it looks even cooler without the pickguard and neck pickup. Modding guitars is a fun hobby, look at all the Frankie projects people have built through the years. I think guitar players are naturally tinkerers it’s been a long time since I’ve had a guitar I haven’t changed something on . I’m personally not into building a clone of anyone’s signature guitar but I totally get the temptation to “beast” one of these Gretsch out .
Wow, I have been watching your videos with the Double Jet. I got mine two weeks ago and I love it. The tone you are getting with the JCM800 is amazing, you have the AC DC sound perfected, and you play it perfectly. Well done ... :-)
Which amp do you use here? Sounds just like Donnington! I've got this guitar in Firebird red, but a single cut instead of a double cut and a bigsby, but pretty much the same guitar after all
Just some generic locking ones from ebay and they were very simple to change, no drilling required. They are a little heavy, but work beautifully. For gigs I choose this guitar over others for this very reason!
