Nice to see the someone catch something on the Frio. I've only fished that section of the Frio once. My presentations were definitely too big. Got skunked. The river is much wider/deeper well south of Neals and far North of Garner. Hope to try those sections next Spring.
@HillbillyHermitRC There are many beautiful areas out there. I went with my super small presentation as this was my first time fishing the Frio, and I wanted to see what would bite.
What is the depth you have the xi3 mounted to? how much adjustment do you have? Curious due to cavitation? Was it set right out the box or did you have to lower or raise it? Cool vid, thanks for sharing.
That really was something. I attended SWT in the 70's and spent much of those 4 years snorkeling. I later got into kayaking in of all places, West Texas. I'd like to recommend Glen Canyon to you. It's 15 or so miles of the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam down to Lee's Ferry, or in other words, the very top of the Grand Canyon beginning below Lake Powell. It's gentle waters with no permit required. Look into it.
Nice video. How comfortable is it if you decide to sit for a couple of hours? How hard is to stand and cast and then sit back down? Is it pretty stable? I’m 5’8” and weight 227. Thanjs
@@tgcanoesandkayaks thank you for the speedy response. I saw on the Jackson website that the Bite includes a stand-up assist strap. I went to a local authorized dealer on the south side of Houston and the ones I saw did not have it and the salesperson didn’t know what I was talking about. Do you know if the Bites still include the strap? Thank you!
@danielthomson2131 Yes, the Bite still comes with the Stand Assist strap. Let me know if you need one, and I'll be more than happy to mail one out to you.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks I knew that Fishing Tackle Unlimited guy didn’t know what he was talking about. I’m going to drive to San Marcus and buy the Bite from you guys. I see y’all open at 1:00 PM tomorrow, so I’ll call then.
I went from a native titan to a hobie PA. I love how straight my PA tracks because of the skeg rudder. How is the tracking on this? Considering picking one up cuz its lighter.
Hello, I enjoy your channel. I saw that you have tested the Jackson Yupik and Coosa X. I want to paddle with my 80# Lab. I know the Yupik would work great. Wondering how you think the Coosa X would do. I can get a good deal on one. Mainly going to be in small to medium lakes. I know the Coosa is overkill for the fishing part. Just wondering how it would paddle in my application. Maybe a river here and there. There looks to be enough room in the Coosa X . Thanks and take it easy . Scott
@MAGAScott Both are good kayaks and can handle your dog nicely. Since you will be mostly on flat water and lakes, the YuPik is easily the better kayak for your application, IMO. The Coosa X is a river runner.
Thanks for the great walk through! That platform is hard to beat and the fact it’s American made is even better! 💪🏼 cheers. Subbed for more great small boat /kayak reviews!
I dont belive so, Im 6'2" 275 lbs and this kayak is super stable for me. The bigger Unlimited would have a touch more stability and more cruising speed on the open water.
@@tgcanoesandkayaks Appreciate your videos I recently discovered. I have only been kayaking the Guadalupe and your videos has me researching SM. Ill visit the shop soon!
Love your channel. If you had to choose the RVR or the Shoalie for your river/creek runner what would you pick? I have seen a lot of people asking for this comparison but havent found many answers. Would love to see a comparison video but a comment back would be just fine :) Hope all is well!
Hey Buddy. Nice video. I’ve kayaked from the 2nd bridge on 377 south back towards town, Junction. I’ve never seen any of that scenery before. Help me understand where I can see that big waterfall and also the natural spring. Thanks. Norman
I sold mine. The floor is too narrow. It's uncomfortable to keep your feet so close together all day. The boat is so wide, doesn't make sense to design such a narrow floor. The bigger Ultimate is the same.

One of the things this vessel had going for it over those shallow rapids and submerged sandbars was its shallow draft. A kayak with a true keel would have been hung up at least 2-3 times on those submerged sand bars that the K-Craft went over in this video.
