Great video. I started driving in the early 2000s but worked with old school drivers who told me about the old days.. it wasn’t so far away 10 years on and I can remember following another driver to a truck stop near Calais from the same company and they all knew each other and were telling some great yarns! I see the feminist weren’t screaming about equality so much back then when you had to roll round in the shit to change a tyre and sleep in a small cab!!!
Really enjoyed watching that, and them old scannys 😍😍😍 propper tools. Reminds me of when I used to go away with my dad as a young lad in the 90’s. Driving myself for the last 12 years now.
what a great video pete reminds me of a kid riding in my Grandads 113s i also subbed for curries in the late 90s they had some great work regards Mike from Birmingham
Back in the day before the whole game went to rat shit....I got the 1st 143...450,, in the North East.....I believe F686 JCN....had wings that wagon....people asking me in Dover if they could sit in cab and have there pic taken....😃🤣 fuck off was the answer
My dad had a truck that looked very similar to that one. H270 SRM. I always remember the registrations of old trucks better than I do my own car. Great video of the days when I was a cab happy youngster. 👍🏼
That was fantastic, took me right back in time. Much better job then, drivers helped each other out and had a great craic when parked up. I wish I could turn the clock back and do it all again. Thanks for posting.
Robert Atkinson Hi Robert, I’m good thanks. The flashing light is more to do with how the video was shot and the refresh rate of the camera. Volvo and Scania have always on dash and day running lights so they show up on videos taken with the GoPro.
I sold up, went back to college and wound up working in world motorsport for a company involved with the top race teams in F1, MotoGP and WRC. Great times.
This was an 'R' series Streamline, but as far as I know all gearboxes are available on either an R or P series. Some are 2 pedal Opticruise versions like this one was, smoe are 3 pedal opticruise versions where you have to press a clutch pedal when you want to stop, or they are manual gearboxes using a clutch and gearlever where you select the gear. Good luck with your test.
Scania is the first to introduce opticruse into their buses model & also many known this branded on highway as " the king of the hill" i love their product especially their buses. Such a powerful buses.
I drive same Scania, some of them have 2 pedals some do have Clutch pedal even if an Automatic one therefore when you stop at the traffic lights u need to hold pedal down or press it to take it to neutral. Nice video, Thanks!
