Music is always a difficult call, we try were possible to use music contemporary to the age of the vehicles being filmed, and the atmosphere of the event itself, but it also has to be material we can affordably license. At least the soundtrack during the racing was spot on!
Hello thankyou for watching. Are you referring to the opening about 10 seconds in where we mention the competition for the GP Itala and Lanchester Trophies? Is it possible there was some judder in the playback when you watched it and GP Itala didn't come through? We've had a listen a couple of times and can hear being said between seconds 10 to 14. All the best and again thank you for watching!
Fortunately no prangs! The Alfa jus had a "small" lockup, not uncommon at McLeans! The racing at these events is highly competitive and its a fantastic opportunity to see this historic cars once again out on the track going for the win! The 2012 Donington Historic Festival is only a couple of weeks away now and should be a fantastic event!
It certainly does! It's all the more impressive when you're up close and the owner enjoys entertaining spectators, as you can see he needs little by the way of encouragement. If you're interested there will be 4 of these aero engined beasts at this years Cholmondeley Pageant of Power!
@hangarrat101 The 12Y was also built under license by Klimov and no doubt served as a basis for their own 105 series engines, like those used in the magnificent Yak-3.
@RaceClassicTV it is indeed a V12, 12X is the model. It was later developed into the 12Y and 12Z, used in various French fighters of the Second World war.
@hangarrat101 The engine is a V12. From around 40 sec Anthony covers the specs of the engine. Be sure to start from the beginning though to hear the full story!
@RaceClassicTV Right, I see it now, thanks for pointing it out. Some very special videos you guys have, I found there's a Hispano-Amilcar, aero engined as well, would love to hear it if you guys by any chance get to interview and all that sort :P
As if by magic we filmed this clip of another aero engined machine "1929 Napier Bentley Aero Engine Fires Up at VSCC Spring Start 2010". In fact these two cars were parked next to each other during the filming!
Looking at this video and the exhaust configuration the engine appears to be a W-12. Presumably this must be a Napier Lion? Have only ever seen one static in a museum - would love to hear it driven hard. Great Video - thanks for posting.
@creamofcardstv Really please you enjoyed it, be sure to have a look at the recent footage posted of the aero engined 24 litre Napier Bentley, aka the "Flame Thrower"!
@crisp2882 Very much so and it just so happens that the machine you see next to is is a 27 litre aero engined Delage! We did an interview with it's owner Anthony Howat make sure you have a look at that video. No flames but an amazing sound!
