Natalie stay encouraged. You are doing a great job. I was reading about what scents squirrels hate and it said coffee grounds, peppermint oil, black pepper, and vinegar. Wow, the bread is going too far. Unfortunately the green eyed monster is real. Get you some cameras so can catch the monster in the act. You and your garden are very resilient and inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
Honestly fertilize on a schedule if you can and consistent watering. Those things are heavy feeders and they are thirsty. Good luck in the garden. Thank you for subbing!
Yes Natalie, what's better in the beautiful mornings than setting in your garden with tea or coffee admiring all the hard work you've done and seeing how its growing. It's so peaceful and good for our souls. Do you have any Butterfly bushes? My neighbor has one with purple tiny blossoms that smell like lilacs. I'm sure it isnt a lilac bush but may be lavender I'm not sure. I'm going to get me one. I enjoy seeing the butterflies. Enjoy your weekend! 🌹
I feel bad things are eating some of your plants but alot of your plants look great! I wonder how you can get rid of the ones eating stuff. Do you have a County Extension Office? If so maybe they would know but dont know if they can with organic gardening. What's your secret for keeping the weeds out besides hand weeding? Thanks. I enjoy watching you.😊
Those onions are beautiful! I know you are doing all the harvesting but I enjoy watching how much you get no matter how long your video is 😊. Last time I had a garden I was surprised how many potatoes I harvested. I had 12 sweet potato plants and harvested alot from both. I'd never done sweet potatoes before. I was so excited because I didnt do anything special but water them. 😂. I'm looking for more of your videos as I just found you recently! 🌹
Those onions look awesome! You need a carmera out in your garden to see what is chewing on your plants. My guess is Rabbits and yes they can jump into those beds. Look into getting some organic deer/rabbit repellent or go on you tube and make your own. A mix of milk, garlic and raw egg mixed together with water and placed in a spray bottle helps deter them. Those little tiny red potatoes you can put back into the ground to grow more for a fall crop.
Hi there! Welcome. I got my raised beds off Amazon. The rectangular ones I got them as a pair. Tried to find them and they are not available. Here is the link for the round ones
Hey there from Kansas! This is my 1st time here. I was scrolling and you came up on youtube and I'm so glad. I understand your frustration about plants getting destroyed after all your hard work.
Do you not make your own compost using your chicken poo, grass clippings, leaves, sticks, twigs? Mulching your garden beds so no bare soil is exposed will help retain moisture in the beds and allow the worms to come into your garden. As for squirrels we set out traps as well as have all gardens surrounded with 1/4 inch hardware cloth. the hardware cloth is dug into the ground about a foot so the squirrels can't dig in. It also keeps out rabbits and chipmunks. Squirrels don't usually eat the plants, rather just dig holes in the ground to bury nuts. Rabbits will eat the plants. I always wait until the neck of the onion plant flops over and then pull them. Nice onion hall. Chop the green tops and freeze for making soups or stir fries.
Ma’am great job on the onions! Did the plants have tomatoes on them when the squirrels ate them? If so you could put water out for them. I think they get them because of the water content in the tomatoes. I had a problem with the squirrel in my tree eating my strawberries well part of the strawberries so I enclosed the bed in tulle and it kept the squirrel at bay for a while, then it bit or scratched a whole in the tulle so I doubled the tulle and no more problems with the strawberries. Then it took a few tomatoes but pretty much wasted them because they weren’t totally eaten. So I put out 4 pans of water and the squirrel doesn’t touch my food anymore. I have seen it drinking from the pans. I totally understand you because the squirrel was pissing me off. Now we coexist together happily. It still digs in my beds I guess looking or burying acorns. So if I can figure out a solution to that then I will be good.
Hi🙂 thank you as usual for sharing, you might want to name these videos with hashtags names that will help you with views and algorithm, like update on my tomatoes or peppers or whatever, because most people search using those sort of words 🤷♂️
