I like how bucket just ends up writing a large chunk of both devilution and revilution's tracks, I think In TNT to kill is my favorite for this set, just sounds like a long forgotten nightmare coming back to haunt you once again, it is to me what Ion Isolation is in revilution. On a side note it would be shocking that either of them came out if it wasn't even more shocking that they both were good when they both stuck in controversial development hells only rivaled by duke nukem forever only to end up in limbo literal years and then pulled out by the community members and saved, revilution maybe more so considering that one's starting point but devilution is really not much better. The story behind both of them is interesting enough to justify a documentary.
The Midi Pack finally released on DOOM + DOOM II as an add-on mod for PS5 just now, but it's only Midi Synth version, not the Arachno Soundfont version. It still sounds good. I don't think the console versions support the Arachno Soundfont tracks cuz it's ZDoom or GZDoom source port and the console versions will not support ZDoom or GZDoom source ports sadly
While the sample set was impressive for its time they are not very balanced and some samples contain a wet mix and some a dry mix (with and without reverb added in the sample itself or recorded as such). And the lack of a reverb effect DSP to make the sounds feel more coherent. It's still nostalgic, I listened to Tyrian music a lot with the GUS. I think I prefer the adlib FM sounds and the music seems to have been written specifically for this type of synth in mind. Even with the yamaha DB50XG it was a mess as with most of the midi synths, the patches are poorly amplitude normalized.

that's a lot of soundfonts combined there! how do they even work together, I would think each would override the next, unless you basically made your own by hand-picking sounds from each?
Everything is in the video description. I used various SoundFonts to record this. Unfortunately, you can't do that in-game. The only way is to create a WAD with mp3s and then use that WAD for music. I did not and have not the time to make those WADs, sorry. Feel free to make one yourself though.
@@GoranObal Yes, I read that you had various SoundFonts was just wondering if you still remember specific SF for specific maps. Or did you even record same map with multiple SFs and then combine them?
Which SF did you use for map24 and was there any logic for choosing them or was it random for each map? For some reason in this track map24 seem to sound better than in some other video where it is standalone upload so that made me curious.
