I would try that, moving your fuzz and Uni early will make them a bit more subtle which can be nice with extreme effects. But keep in mind, order doesn't matter if you never stack pedals. So just think about the pedals you'd like to use together and then find the order that gets you a should you love. Killer board bro! Great drives and great ambient wet effects. Don't be afraid to turn up the gain controls! Each control on all your gain pedals will be very interactive, so the volume/level knob has a huge impact on what is hitting the next pedal. But there's a lot of emphasis on keeping this control high & gain settings low, but turning it down & the gain up does have its uses. In fact a lot of old pedals lacking in output make more sense when going into something already distorted as too much output can make things muddy, particularly fuzzes. If you have a pedal that gets muddy with too much gain, which is literally just more volume being added to the signal, if the majority of the additional distortion from a pedal boosting it is from increased output, you run the risk of pushing the later pedal into that muddy sound, so turning the first pedal down and turning the gain up on that pedal can be better for clarity. Heaviest to highest doesn't really work. Its more important to have that last gain pedal work with your amp and get the sound you're after, so it isn't as simple as "lightest pedal" last. Like I tend to use British style amps, being from the UK where they are cheap, a soft-clipping overdrive tends to be like a blanket over the amp, the "bite" just isn't there, so a hard-clipping pedal works perfectly. But something like a Fender or just generally super clean, scooped & extended high end and a soft-clipping circuit is often better.

Hey sir, new subscriber here from the Philippines. Okay just so you know, i'm not a professional musician yet, been seeking a lot of help regarding my tone and musicality with other musicians and bands in my city but when i do, those musicians and the bands need some help too hahaha so i told myself, fine i'll do it on my own. And i'm still learning up to this day as i get along in life. I've been so confused lately of what to put first on my pedalboard, been experimenting to stack some pedals since then. First, i stack my dirt pedal which is my Indio DS-6 Distortion pedal, then next is my Joyo Overdrive pedal. I know i only have practical pedals or as they say "primitive" pedals because i'm just getting started on building myself as a good musician hahaha but i learned and harness my skills with it along the way. I think i will just add a Booster pedal next time, right after my Overdrive, that's just my only problem i haven't tried putting a Booster pedal on my chain. Thanks for this information sir. Keep onb rockin'.🤘🏻😎
@GettinBetterWithDave
@GettinBetterWithDave 21 день назад
Hey bro! I'm glad to hear you're doing what you can to improve at guitar and get better tone, that's awesome! A good way to stack drive would be to pick the one you love the way it sounds by itself and then use the other pedal to make it even better. If you want it louder put the second best pedal after your favorite. Or if you want more drive boost into your favorite by putting your second fave before. Also, if you want to buy a boost, look at Flamma pedals, they are great for the price. Hit me up anytime if you have questions and about gear or playing questions. I'm here to help if I can! ps, I started with primitive pedals too! 😊

@BenLeedsCarson
@BenLeedsCarson 22 дня назад
Not quite - you've already got a 5 in the chord via your open D string; and also another B via your second-lowest string (A string, second fret = B). Moving your higher *open* B up to a D changes the /voicing/, not the chord; the chord - another G B D chord, just like the first - is identical. As an aside: it's actually fine to omit the 5th - because often you can hear it even when it isn't played. So from a player's perspective, "G" *could* just signify a G major chord with only Gs and Bs, with a G in the bass. Sometimes composers might use "G5" as a way of making sure you have a D in that chord, or to resume a D that had been omitted ... but again that doesn't describe this chord, as the D wasn't a new feature. Now, about your "suspended chord": In your video you raised a B to C and told us that was a "suspended" chord, and that's technically correct, in the sense that the symbol "sus" usually stands for "sus4." But two little problems: (1) you can also have a sus6 or sus9, so it's best NOT to imply that all "suspended chords" have 4s in them. And (2) - the best name for the chord you played there is Gadd4 (or Gadd11) - a full G major chord with a C added. Gsus4 would normally *not* have a B in it (that string with your index-finger on the second fret). Think of a "suspension" as something "suspended in air", and destined to "land" somewhere; the 4 is falling toward 3. Yes, you *can* suspend 4 *and* have a 3 elsewhere in the voicing while the 4 resolves to a separate 3 ... so technically, some suspended chords could sound like the one you played. But that's rare with sus4 - suspended fourths are best as *delays* of 3, or else the resolution feels redundant. Because of that, we normally use "Gsus4" to describe the chord containing only Gs, Ds, and a C; whereas "Gadd4" means a G, B, D, and a C added to it - like what you played.
@GettinBetterWithDave
@GettinBetterWithDave 22 дня назад
Wow! Thank you for the very detailed comment! You missed one thing though, I omitted the B note all together. I'm muting the A string. So there is no 3rd in this chord (which is more of a guitar thing than a piano thing) So the only note present are G and D. I suppose you could notate that as a G no3. But I think G5 is cleaner. As for the Suspended comment, I have never had the pleasure of being asked to play a sus6 chord but maybe one day. In the circles I play in, Sus4 is most common but only notated with the 4 when a sus2 is also used in the same piece of music. Can we at least agree that calling a G chord that lacks a 3rd is not a G2? 😊 Thanks for needing out with me.
@BenLeedsCarson
@BenLeedsCarson 21 день назад
@@GettinBetterWithDave oh goodness, my apologies. Serves me right for listening on my phone. Consider the suspension tangent retracted. (Although I love that topic.) Yes, I share your puzzlement at the "G2" label. Never heard of it before. Do you think the original person labeling it was trying to help students distinguish between two more or less equally useful voicings of G major? ("G1" and "G2"?) Not good reasoning, but perhaps ...
@GettinBetterWithDave
@GettinBetterWithDave 21 день назад
All good bro! Yeah, That could be a reason for that label. Almost like a far less accurate "first inversion, second inversion, third inversion", just to put a name on different voicings of the same chord. We may never know. haha

Sus4 with the C. Yah, the D is the 5th of G, so it's part of the G chord (1,3,5) so that's why you don't call it a 5 chord, you just call it G. By not pressing the B on string 5, and not muting the string, you're playing an open A, which is the 2. So it is a G2 chord.
@fredsmith6324
@fredsmith6324 22 дня назад

That's the way I typically play a G and I see a lot of players do the same, where you are omitting the 3rd, so all that left is 1st and 5th. You could just chart that as a G but if you were intentionally wanting to leave out that 3rd, I can't think of a more accurate way of charting it. This has been a fun nerd out! lol Thanks of the comment.
@fredsmith6324
@fredsmith6324 22 дня назад
@@GettinBetterWithDave oh ok, you're right it's a G5, i got ya now. if you omit the third it's called a G5, and the third is omitted in this case because that 5th string B is being muted and the other B on the 2nd string is being turned into a D (the 5th). there's nothing but 1's and 5's in this chord. yah, interesting.
