I am genuinely baffled. This guys can’t sing or play guitar. He sounds like some drunk on an open mic night, done the local pub. I can’t work out whether people commenting as if this is genuinely something amazing are joking or not… I mean that solo is what I was playing after 3 months of learning.
The fact Dylan never had G.E.on any recorded albums during his stint really upset him but Bob got sick of him real fast I’ve read in the book On the road: the songs of Bob Dylan which talks about every albums recording and all the tracks including ones rehearsed and others not released. I never cared for him and I disagree about not trying to steal the shine off Dylan as he posed on every song he played on. Dylan hated that. Just play. Instead he would look as Bob played the harmonica like “ how is he doing that” big grin smile over the most basic harmonica solo. The rest of the band thought it made Bob look silly and I agree. He was let go and his next band from late 1993- early 1997 was my favorite non “Band or Heartbreaker” band of his. J.J.Jackson on guitar, Tony Garnier on bass, Winston Watson on drums, Bob on rhythm guitar / vocals and Bucky Baxter on steel pedal guitar. They killed at Woodstock too. G.E. even dies it while George sings one of Bobs Johnny Cash gifted songs from Bob as though it was Visions of Johanna. Goofy b*stard with that dopey look.
good one! I don't remember this one from that concert. I remember watching it on pay per view. My dad and I taped it. I think i lost the VHS tapes though.
Yes, this may be one of the best covers of this classic Dylan song. This performance was not included in the official audio album of the concert, but it was released in the Blu-ray edition from 2014. It is my understanding that this performance, with others by G.E. Smith, John Hammond Jr. and Booker T. Jones, were part of an opening act which may have been not broadcast by some TV channels. I previously uploaded the acts by G.E. Smith and John Hammond Jr. from a decent quality (not great) TV broadcast.
One day Ike Turner, a notoriously strict band leader, was playing with his group in a concert and one guy missed a chord or something and without getting out of rhythm Turner said I got you which mean't a fine
He was the unsung hero like johm Paul Jones but he knew Something was fantastic and john even said so. He has so many fabulous songs. I remember where I was the day he passed and cried. Was my favorite
