Glimmer's whole strategy is very disturbing considering she was a child, I watched a fantastic analysis where the author proposes that her arc is reminiscent of Finnick (with everything that implies). Her interview had a weird aura in the movie, but watching the entire bit feels even more... Off. Stanley Tucci always leaves me speechless with this performance, he really is outstanding as Caesar.
The interviews really shows the culture the kids are raised in. But it also shows the contrast between the teens who glorify the games and the main characters feelings about it all.
I with they cut the flashbacks thrown in throughout the film. They basically have no context to what's happening on screen and are never brought up or addressed
I think it makes sense for them not to have kept Prim’s dream because we didn’t know her as a character yet and it didn’t really add anything to the story. I love the interviews. It gives the careers a sense of malice that isn’t seen in the movies as much as
fun fact, they actually kept multiple scenes in the italian version of the movie! these include the second scene, the scene where peeta is “leading” the careers to katniss and the scene where she offers rue her food
Glimmer and Cato and maybe cloves interviews prolly weren’t needed but I wish we got to see marvel foxface and Rues interviews. Marvels shows just how distorted the captiol and the games are, foxface I feel like just doesn’t get enough love and attention as she should considering she made it so far her significant presence and the theories surrounding her death and then obviously for rue it just shows how sweet and innocent she is EDIT: I just saw another comment saying how Glimmers kinda foreshadows how the victors are treated especially like with finnick being harassed and so ig hers would’ve been a good addition too and then at that point adding catos shows the fuckery the hunger games is and then cloves just shows how dangerous she is and gives her a bit more screen time
guys in the hunger games you would be at ur most venerable while taking a shit. if ambushed during this, would the capitol air it? this brings up questions in other feilds. in a combat situation, such as trench warfare in Ukraine or mountain to mountain warfare as we encountered in Afghanistan, how would you take a shit? snipers just go in their pants if they really need to, but what about general infantry? do you open the MRE solely for the toilet paper? idk just had this whole ass thought process.
I wish they included Peeta telling Katniss that his dad was in love with her mom, and the reason she chose a poor coal miner instead was his singing. I love the story he tells where he himself fell in love with Katniss for the same reason
Maybe it’s just me but the more I think about that scene… the funnier and messier it gets. Peeta just aired his family business on tv like that. Like think about it, Peeta just exposed that his mother wasn’t his dad’s first choice. That he had a crush on Katniss mother, and that he is even telling his son he had with another woman that… Like the people in the captiol have seen Mrs Everdeen, and both Peeta’s parents too since the final 8 have family and friends do interview. There’s no way people in the Capitol aren’t gossiping about it. Like I can imagine them talking about the drama, analysing Mr and Mrs Mellark’s interactions and probably wondering if he still loves Mrs Everdeen, talking about them not loving each other and talking about how it must be fate what happened and how Mrs Everdeen feels about it. The captiol is so messy, there’s no way they aren’t eating that up and the more I think about it… the funnier it gets tbh. I mean he thought he was dying… may as well throw your abusive mother in the deep end 😭
@@chanbang378 lmao yeah you make a great point! I remember reading it and thinking about how his horrible mom must’ve reacted, and I think that’s another way this scene could have improved the movies even more. Because the book is solely from Katniss’s perspective, we don’t get to see how their families or the capitol reacted. But the movies aren’t only from her perspective, so not only would we get that scene with Peeta telling her about it, we would get to see the aftermath for their families and the capitol. I also think it would also be another opportunity for the movies to show how smart Peeta is and how good he is at giving a show. Not only did he give the capitol a sweet and romantic scene to enhance their love story and gain sympathy and sponsors, he gave them drama about their families that they could speculate about
@@whopper9066 yeah I know it wasn’t as important to the plot but we don’t really gets to see Peeta’s family at all in the movies which is such a missed opportunity. I’ve always been so intrigued to what Peeta’s relationship with his family is actually like tbh. And we barely hear anything in the book either. Like we know his mother is horrible and his father is nice, but did he ever try to do anything with that abuse? How was Peeta’s relationship like with his brothers? Were they close or was there a distance there? Especially thinking about the fact that after they won the first games, Katniss moved into the victors village house with her family and seemed to have support. But Peeta moved into the house completely alone, even after being traumatised and losing a leg so he needs more help. His family didn’t bother living with him. Even if it was a situation with working at the bakery, surely they’d be able to wake up earlier to support him or at least have someone live with him for support. Every time we hear about Peeta’s family, is him making the effort to go see them. And maybe I’m looking into it, since it’s a throwaway line. But when Gale is getting whipped, Peeta reacts badly to the noise and Katniss doesn’t recognise it or what’s going on at all. And she says something like ‘I don’t know what that noise is, but it must mean something to Peeta’ and he starts to tense up and maybe it is a throw away line… but it makes me wonder… why does that mean something to him to recognise it so quickly
