This channel is to hopefully educate drivers on bad driving etiquette and not replicate. Along with driving videos for various junctions and parking for new learner drivers with their test approaching.
At 1.03 the lights have only just turned red. The cyclists have a perfect right to proceed up to the advanced stop line, that’s what it’s there for. Passing on the left of a line of stopped traffic is perfectly acceptable for any vehicle so I don’t know quite what you are objecting to.
I understand the box for them.. But there are no cars there to pass so use the right lane on approach for a right turn?? Just saying don't mislead other road users for no reason
Sure but they don’t know it’s you coming behind. I’ve been passed with less than 6 inches to spare in the right lane just there. Why not use the left lane with no one there at all and all the space in the world rather than risk being rear ended?
The cyclists were turning right so that is the correct space to stop if they stay in left lane someone from behind them could also get them doesn’t make a difference
Nice one, mate. When it comes to German car badges, I automatically assume they are going to pull a stunt of some kind. I'm rarely wrong. The only real question is whether these people drive this way *because* they've bought a German badge, or if the German badge just attracts that sort of driver!
6:11 hmm is the trailer wired correctly as well to the car when they indicate do the correct indicator on the trailer turn on and do the brake lights on the trailer turn on too
1:40 what if the biker was pulling out then they just don’t think bike them berks in Mercs they just don’t want manage risk or look further than their badge on their bonnet
The best advice I was given when learning to drive was: “Treat every road user as a complete idiot, they won’t do what they should do, so expect the unexpected.” It’s served me well for these past 50 years.
Car drivers using mobile phones and not fully concentrating, on the same roads as idiots on motorbikes doing twice the speed limit, is a recipe for disaster..
Another great vid, Terry. 👍 To be fair to the driver at Castle Circus (2:54), I've had that happen a few times and I've come to the conclusion that the lack of road markings confuse those who aren't from the area: First, there's nothing to indicate that the left lane should turn left. So a driver might reasonably believe they can go straight on. Secondly, there's no warning that if they do go straight ahead, they will need to merge into one lane for Tor Hill Road. On the positive side, I drove past Kerswell Gardens junction this week. They've finally repainted the lane markings etc. I still got carved up by an innattentive driver though!😁
Admittedly it's not marked.. So could could confuse.. But at least look right 1st... And at Kerswell.. People sadly still think the sign is be all and end all
07:33 the emissions test is strict enough, but people like this 'have a mate' who can pass their polluting & likely dangerous wrecks anyway. Dodgy MOTs needs clamping down on
1st clip: No, you don't understand. There's 3 lanes, and the left lane is the special one for Mercedes drivers! 😁 Seriously though, I'm firmly convinced we need mandatory re-tests every 5-10 years to weed out the incompetent drivers. We also need more police on the roads to deal with the "I don't care what the rules say" drivers.
Not a great pull away from the coach though, if the driver knows he or she is going into the right hand lane better to indicate and pull out at a sharper angle across both lanes and control the traffic than to pull into the left lane then suddenly switch to the right. I understand the coach needs the extra space of both lanes for the corner but I don’t feel the car driver did much wrong there.
Nice one terry! Almost every clip here is a result of people who MUST get past the learner at all costs (MGIF). It's also strange how sticking L plates onto any car automatically converts it to a second class vehicle so far as other road users are concerned isn't it?!! 😁 I'd bet pound notes to buttons that the Cockington Lane roundabout smash was either a lack of signals, or driving over the roundabout, or a combination of both. Of course that won't stop the one who failed to Give Way to the right from carrying most of the liability.
Quite a few of these are really very minor errors, particularly the ones labelled 'straight abouts' where lack of dense traffic permits them without problem.
Good collection mate. It's nice to know it's not just me that encounters these bad drivers on almost every trip. But with your L plates, you have the added "must pass the learner" drivers as well. Nightmare! I don't condone the driver at 1:03, but I'm going suggest that the council should add a Right Turn Arrow to the right lane - just as there is on the previous roundabout. It would remove all doubt. As it stands, it's understandable that a non-local might think there's two lanes on exit here (although I would bet my eye teeth that the overtaking driver was a local anyway). PS If you reply, and I don't, it's because the platform limits me to one comment or reply per video (even my own). Too many heated discussions over the years I think!
3.19 unusual for you to follow signage Terry even if there are 3 clear signs and arrows painted on the road you still use the road incorrectly because you know best eh 😂😂
My god Terry you have the patience of a saint your learner drivers must be crapping themselves with these complete idiots on the road send them in to operation snap Devon and Cornwall, love your videos take care stay safe from everyone at Happaway Garage Happaway Road Torquay 👊😎❤️🙏🇬🇧
5:04 not only a ridiculous place to park, but she must havebeen at *least* a foot from the kerb at its closest point to the car! I'm a firm believer that there should be retests every 10 years. It wouldn't stop the arrogant drivers- they'll never change. But it would help to correct the everday incompetence we see from so many drivers, the ones who seem to have forgotten everything except how to make the car stop and go.
Thanks Terry, that really helps viewers understand what it's like to be a learner. The theme seems to be "it's all about me" for so many road-users, a variation of MGIF. Greetings from sunny Stockholm.
The no right signal a comment about the yellow van who was in right lane and NOT signalling. So was giving misleading information. Seeing as they exited before my position
Great collection Terry. The worst thing is that every one of those drivers would almost certainly claim they were above average if you were able to ask them. There should be 5-yearly re-tests in my opinion.
I like to watch your videos and identify where you were ! There are so may drivers who need 'refresher' lessons. I think it should be compulsory to have to have, say 3, refresher lessons every say 3 to 5 years, but without a retest.
For me, if ever you are cut up by a companies vehicle never go to get their business and even maybe call the company and tell them why especially if you have the vehicles registration number (I was cut up by an RAC van 45 years ago and I still will never call them)
Great Video thanks, Everyone is in such a rush, no respect for the road or others, People need to think and keep their minds focused on other drivers and pedestrians, Not Distracted by the mobile phone or tablet in their cars.
Great stuff (and, thankfully, I'm not in it again!). There's always been people who get in the wrong lanes by mistake. But it seems more and more common for drivers (usually in a luxury brand or a van)to do it deliberately. Stay safe fella.
The one reassuring thing for us all to remember is that, for every one of these poor road users we encounter, we usually interact with hundreds (if not thousands) of perfectly safe drivers - But don't stop posting them because we love to see 'em! 0:55 Typical L plate MGIF! 2:32 Most likely a dealer out on their deliveries. 3:12 I think a gentle tap on the horn to alert the pedestrians would have been safe here given the lack of other moving vehicles. But, yeah, pretty terrible awareness for someone in charge of a child.
