I eas thinking of EV 3 years ago, and i went hybrid instead, coincidentally the ioniq. Niw that thr tesla supercharger network is ipen to the public, at good prices too, ive decided now is the time for me to try out sn EV. Ive got a Cupra born currently on order.
I am just about to get rid of my 21 facelift ioniq hybrid for a Cubrs born. The ioniq is a great all round car that comes with a ton of kit for he price. The only thingd its lacks is the exitment factor. Its very economical geting mid 70s in the summer snd mod 60s in the winter, thats eith out trying to eek thr mpg out. But cos its not an exciting car it doesnt egg you on to go faster. Very comfy car wirh probably the best adaptive cruiser control of its day. it has been my most unlucky car. Day free from brand new we had November storms and i got a roof tile thrigh the windscreen, and its been ran into 3 times since! Ive never in 25 years had a claim and, had four on this car!
i have just got a 21 m3lr and would like to go to France , how much was the ferry compared to Eurostar. Looking at your map your not far from where I live
@@mikehainsworth747 hello. Back when we did this video the price was more like £100 for ferry and approx £150 for euro tunnel. We’ve been again this year and they have both increased a lot. Euro tunnel was more like £230 one way coming home. The ferry was approx £150 one way outbound to France. It’s so lovely over there. Superchargers are everywhere too so easy to travel about.
Hi, how did the accessories hold up, particularly the hooks in the frunk and the pedal covers? We get our model 3 LR next week and already looking at getting some accessories to improve the car. cheers John
@juttley72 Hello, they all held up very well. The pedal covers perfect job, the frunk hooks to be honest we never really used them. Just wanted something to cover them holes, and there where an ideal solution. But everything we bought has lasted and did well.
@@EvClaireScott I have enjoyed watching your videos I was hoping to watch u do the test drive of one am thinking of buying a second hand one going looking this weekend at a few
People who think this thing looks good need their eyesight re-assessed and that’s coming from someone who’s partially blind. Tesla’s cars aren’t exactly inspiring anyway, being the automotive equivalent of driving a Microwave… but the CyberTruck is just laughable, a disgrace to the industry and already a disaster for Tesla.
Excellent video. Thanks. We're going from near to Warwick to Orkney in June. It's about 600 miles to the ferry at Scrabster. There are just 2 of us and our camping gear in a VW ID.3 so I don't need so many stops although the car is slightly less efficient than yours. Any reason why you chose instavolt? I find them perhaps the most expensive of them all. <Edit> Ah, instavolt explained. 👍
Hi. If available on your model, I would have thought the same price. If available, you go on your tesla app. Scroll down to upgrades, and it will be in there as an upgrade, software upgrades think. Hope this helps
"Rouen" "Honfleur" 🤣🤣🤣 You can put these foreign place names into Google Translate and click the speak icon to get the correct local pronunciation as well as the English equivalent. Doing this makes you look like you're educated!! 😂
Hi your cars look amazing I have model 3 my wife is collecting model y next week I noticed you changed your wheel hubcaps have you got a link for them please…
That looks good, but I have my dachshund sitting on the back seats, she set off the seat belt warning lights, so now have all 3 belt’s plugged in all of the time 👍👍
We didn't give our Model 3 to Tesla when we bought the Model y if that's what you mean? We bought the Model y and still owned the Model 3. Sold the Model 3 privately when prices were still decent and before Highland released
Looking forward to the road trips on this one :). Don't know how ye were able to fit two kids and all of your luggage in a M3. I can't fit myself and the wife with our new born in our M3.
Thanks. We did go France again in August in it and camping in Tenby, but we just didn't manage to get footage other than documenting it on Twitter. Takes a lot of time up sometimes on a holiday. But will for this summers French trips as we are off further south in France so be a bigger trip. More supercharging, too ⚡️
It was. Yes we made the decision to buy but still had the model 3. R SYMONS sold it for us which took away all the hassle. Aww does he ha ha. Never thought he did
Thanks for the video - Ioniq has such accurate guess-o-meter! This also demonstrates nicely how important *destination* charging is. All campsites should have EV chargers on site; no more fumes from cars while cooking breakfast!
Ive got a long drive in November to DLP in my Model 3 RWD so nice to see a winter drive to gauge the efficiency. The usable battery is 57.5kwh on the RWD
That's a fantastic car. The only thing I personally don't like is the lack of dedicated controls for basic functions like heating / AC and common drive functions. I like to think that the car can still be controlled if the big screen fails, and I'm worried about looking away from the road while adjusting settings, etc. Maybe not a problem in reality though?
You definatly don't miss any buttons. They can all be easily still controlled ir voice control can do alot of them. Like adjust heat up. Or turn heat on/off. The cars are amazing both model 3 and model y
Like your style of video and easy talking to camera. We’ve had a 38 Ioniq since Jan 2020, doing lots of university trips to our daughter 450 miles away! It’s been a brilliant car, a bit painful for charging speeds particularly on the winter runs up north when we need a 4th stop or even a 5th and the daylight hours are shorter. Generally though it’s been great, we’ve been driving full EV since 2012 with c-zero then leaf. Anyway I came here after buying a M3 LR RWD ( the rare one ) new 12 days ago. It’s amazing, going to make those 900 mile weekends so much easier. It’s a private family car as well and we’ll be looking to do some France trips in it for sure. I think it’ll work out cheaper going to France in it, getting cheap hotels than it does in our motorhome. I’ve done 650 miles so far at 190Wh/mi, so a range approaching 400 miles…….or 200 more than my bladder. Stay well and keep enjoying the family trips……they’ll be in Uni/jobs before you know it.
Looked a gorgeous place to stay. You proved that, with a little logical forward planning, there's no need for range anxiety. Where was the dog hiding in the car, in the frunk? 😂
You should have upcycled a rangerover, far greener and more room and safer. Shonky built Tesla...death trap, maximum fire hazzard.. Diesle gen sets behind your chargers....and gas and coal fired power stations feeding this. Cobolt....40,000 children mining it, in Congo alone... Enjoy your glued together car. Hope your conscience can take it.
I forgot to add at the end of this the costs so here they are. Home charge £2.62 on octopus go faster at the time. Instavolt cribbs £0 free credit used. Exeter services £0 didn't have the cost. Out and about. 1 x supercharger £11.34 @ Camborne. Instavolt on the way home £0 free credit used. Total costs £13.96 for 895 miles.
Cool video!….I have the same car, same year and colour. Darts Farm would have been a nice break for you with the kids as there’s a big playground there…shame it was too busy. Looks like the weather improved a lot once you were there!👍
Welcome back Good video as always While you have been resting from RU-vid I’ve been catching you up on subscribers but I’m struggling for inspiration now Jennifer my wife and I live in north Cornwall Take care
@@nigep Awww thanks. Yes it can be hard to do videos. We don't go out of our way to do them, if we feel that its worth a video then we will. Got some more on the way, our hols are coming up again, we are off to different places as well, so should make for some video. Hard with work and life as well. Video editing is also not easy, i have to try and learn every time I use it.
Ah thanks. We don't get much time these days to do anything. But we are going again next week to France. We tend to use twitter alot to show what we are doing these days. It doesn't need loads if editing
I switched to an EV July '22 and am due to go on my first longish trip this week - NW London to Harrogate, which is 200 miles. My car is a Genesis Electrified G80 which has an 87 kWh battery, of which he I'm thinking about 80 kWh is useable. I am used to not having to worry about range having owned a Maserati and a number of Jaguars for getting on for thirty years. The Maserati was capable of over 500 miles between fills. My longest journey with the Genesis has been around 100-150 miles up until now, and from my experience, given the current temperatures I am guessing a total range of around 220 miles (i usually can ave 3 miles per kWh). So what I'm not used to is leaving the climate control off, and watching how I use energy, so from watching your excellent video, and some other rather less positive - MacMaster PorscheTaycan, I have to say a little apprehension is creeping in, with concerns over lengthy queues and non-working chargers! My view is, the Electrified G80 is a luxury saloon like my previous car's, and I am concerned about disappointment if the car cannot fill the brief of what a typical ICE car at that price point can achieve. I don't expect 500 mile range of course, but an 80 grand EV should not be troubled by this forthcoming journey. By the way apologies for my rambling comment, probably brought on by some of the horror stories about recharging EV's!!
