Funded by amazing supporters and powered by dedicated volunteers, the RNLI has been launching to the rescue and saving lives at sea around the coast of the UK and Ireland since 1824. In that time, our lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved more than 144,000 lives.
Working together with partners and communities, we aim to educate, influence, supervise and rescue those at risk from drowning.

To say people are unhappy with the RNLI is a vast understatement. I hope one day the RNLI are brought to justice and criminally punished for their illegality and treasonous people smuggling activities. The Kilmore Quay crew climbed out of their safe, warm beds to risk their lives for 3 American strangers the cold, dark, gale swept night of 12/16/14-12/17 eleven miles off the coast and this American will forever be in their debt. Much Much Respect to the RNLI and all who serve within the Organisation. A Question For you. In the Future, will RNLI look to change the shape of the Bows of the Larger Rescue Craft to Inverted Axe Bows, for much more stability, Speed in rough seas and fuel savings too? It would i am sure be much more beneficial as a much larger capacity too, with larger Towing ability ~(Tug Like) and much more room for Many more Survivors and, even a possible Heli Pad. I know it seems like a Wildcard Question, and i know the costs would be much more, but you never know who would support such a scheme until you put it out there, that you would be willing to look at it. Great video but could I point out you reference the North Sea as being 750km/2. in size. Its well over 500,000km/2 in size. EG Northumberland county is just over 5000km/2.
When you watch a video there aren't two images played over each other, that would be confusing. So why when someone is speaking why does music play over them?
Words are not enough. However, I will say as a Kayaker returning to the North Sea, hopefully, I will never have to call a mayday But I have peace of mind in knowing if I ever have to, these brave men and women will come running. So if you ever walk by an RNLI Lifeboat station and see one of these men or women, say hello and thank them for what they do.

I was 12 yes old when the Longhope Lifeboat disaster unfurled. We were devastated about the news. It was heart breaking when I realised that fathers & their sons had disappeared. I remembering hoping that someone would be found alive! The upset when we discovered that the Irene was so close to shore and the lifeboat didn't need to go out. I remember the Queen Mother arriving by helicopter in the grounds of the hospital in Kirkwall. We lived across the road from the hospital. We were on Hoy for the unavailing of the statue in memory of the lifeboat men. We will remember them in Churchills words
What do they have to do to get a gold medal or certificate? Die ? I know all but one of The Solomon Browne only got bronze, just the coxswain with gold, & they all died, hero's all the same. Bravery you could only imagine if not told about it. God bless them all, the ones still living, &, the ones who gave their lives. None will ever be forgotten.
