Good stuff. It would be cool to see if you guys could do a video on how to slow down faster and smaller opponents. To stop that float type passing etc.
I think this is a valuable lesson and something you want in your arsenal, but I would classify this as "preventing" side control as opposed to an escape. As I've learned over and over, you've already screwed up if you're trapped in side control...getting out is hard...and that's why you want to do your best from NOT getting caught under. Cheers.

The back take would be my preferred option. Over loading the knee could be potentially dangerous. Also the back take is a better option than the sweep anyway. Roger moves work for Roger because it’s Roger doing it. The basic reverse scrimp sweep is nice and fundamental and safer but creating a back take dilemma will increase your success rate.
um... this is nearly an exact copy of my signature escape I've been doing forever... However, I put the other shin in first. You can see that I show details on arm technique to block the gift wrap as well as knee on belly. You can see that I made this video 11 years ago! I think people are starting to get this escape from me! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-obL6lT5WIss.htmlsi=nJLsD0Tkf48-1285
yeah. it's a little weird on the knee. i stopped adding any shin pressure "twist" to the motion until the guy is airborne. less leverage... but much less stress on the knee.
Can I ask why you don’t have the elbow arm(vertical arm) supporting the bracing arm (horizontal arm) by holding the wrist of the bracing arm so that it cannot be collapsed? Like a T?
