It's kind of sad for people who just skip the video after noticing the poor video quality but this is the best live with Anette. I still come to listen
Nightwish had this video posted themselves until they took it down for reasons unknown, but this here is a first-class example of how Anette sounds using voice cleanups while performing. Much like Floor Jansen nowadays, she sounds pretty good, doesn't she? Makes one kinda wish she used it at all concerts, perhaps people would look at her tenure with the band differently. But yeah, this is what happens when someone actually puts on the voice cleaner with Anette live. If you ask me, it sounds pretty good. And hence, we have her very best performance ever with the band. Try listening to the Poet from the same concert. Just magical.
The last part "Mother and Father" 3:56 is one of the best, if not THE Best version ever performed. Anette's performance here is just amazingly beautiful, soulful and heart wrenching.
@Gyro911 ...sigh...It is totally cool to not like a band. Just say..."hey, I think they suck...my opinion" no one can do anything but respect that...but to try and justify your opinions with statements that aren't true is childish. I know these guys and at no time nor in any interview did Mike say he's leaving the band because of the lack of talent or lack of success. The work OVERLOAD was only one of the reasons he left....and BTW, he'll be back..that's my opinion
@Gyro911 they must be doing something right to have lasted for 20 plus years selling out shows including "AN EVENING WITH"..then there are endorcements by no name companies like Mesa Boogie (last I heard JP and Santana were the only two to reveive whatever they want for free) Tama.Sabian.EBMM.etc you know, all the no name companies putting their names and reputations on these talentless guys..you're right though Beiber sells records.headline's shows you must be his biggest fan by your standards
@Gyro911 Haha...DT lacks the talent!! LMAO....Scorpions are better??!! Ha haha....keep wailing those minor pentatonic solos my friend and make them sound really cool by having another hack play a 3rd harmony with you....hahaha....yeah...DT has no creative talent......GOOD CATCH!! The millions of us who love them and their music are all wrong!!! Thank you so much for opening our eyes!! Why are wasting our time??? Thank you so much for your objective and brilliant insight!! You're WINNING!!!
How does John use the same channel on his mark iv to play both rhythm and lead sounds? How dose he get the volume boost and eq change? I think he says that he runs the two mark iv's in stereo,
I loved her performance change later, when she included "Jukka!! Jukka!!" in her end solo.. but she did that at a time when her voice was already damaged, so singing-wise this performance here is still better.
And it's not that complex of a setup, looks like attention was focused on keeping the signal as clean a possible. For example, the signal doesn't always go through the Wah, as he says, it's rackmounted and switchable. If anything it's a very nice switching system, this is far more complex than what was available in the 60s and 70s. The effects he has are HQ 96Khz frequencies, some of the best currently available, though most people still go WET/DRY/WET to keep that pure center tone. Best way.
@kizonni Oh there were way more than a few pedals there dude. If anything it's gotten simpler. There is one rack box now, instead of a chain of pedals, that lets you plug those pedals in ANY way you imagine, over and over, and save them to presets. Not much has changed. We're still using tube amps for crying out loud. If you plug just a guitar into an amp... you get less than Hendrix,Page, etc. They had all the toys too. Who you kiddin?
