Me and my brother just bought similar, also ex-Polish army T-55 Merida. It has 45 kms on the odometer. Only when I heard from ex-tanker that the levers MUST be at the first ,"center" position when lifting the clutch I realised that I had done it wrong first, I had them in the front position. And one can ruin the main clutch in minutes if used wrong, it will never disengage completely after that. I had no idea of the needed engine oil viscosity, so I bought 15w-40. It may be a bit too light, though. It is almost too fun, but I must first learn the whole thing; I have Finnish army books about it, but they are for the maintenance only. I bought the 650-page operators manual from the US (!), but it is in russian, and I must use the translator app to translate it in Finnish... The engine heater is good for starting a forest fire as there is a foot long flame coming under the tank when the pulsing heater operates. Everything is soviet (this one is also Polish made like the tank in the video, though) in good and in bad. I am 175 cm short, but I am almost too big as a driver. The famous "log" is missing, and the rear barrels, (the straps are luckily on the tank) but the snorkel is there. I will absolutely never try it in the lake... It came with all the tools, must be 100 kgs of those, The fuel tanks (and what actually may be in those outside ones exept some water) are a bit puzzle, as the front right one filled "too quickly", and possibly only the one storing also the ammunition may now be full, I must study the cryptic russian manual. If it sounds crazy to buy a tank.... well, it is. 330 L/100 km of diesel, so at least the local mosquitos will be in trouble :D
Great look at the DShK tank mount. Seems that not many other people (at least what i can find in English) talk about that reflector sight so seeing it covered was really cool.
From time to time on You Tube you can encounter an absolute gem. This is one of those occasions. I just wish it were longer and a fifteen episode series.
Boy oh boy... This video didn't age well. Ukraine literally CRAPPED all over Russia's armored divisions, I mean dropped huge steaming piles all over Russia's terribad armor.
Hi, if you want, I can explain to you how each of the buttons and switches inside the tank's turret works. I am currently creating very detailed diagrams and instructions for the fire control system. This system, apart from measuring distances up to 10 km, can display the temperature outside the tank, ammunition temperature, wind speed, and tank speed. In addition to a few other functions that are most useful in combat, you can turn on the stabilization of the gunner's mirror. This allows for a stable viewfinder image when the tank is jumping like crazy. Let me know if you are interested.
Hi, guess you are from Poland; hot there as well?! Very interested...we are self-trained with a bit of help from the Polish Army. I have operated the tank on the move with the X & Y stabilisation working but not the third computer aided axis, and never the laser rangefinder as the Army said it was too dangerous due to 'scatter' into eyes. looks like you have a good command of English! where do you live? ps. I am looking for a T-72 engine to replace the W-55U; any thoughts? Cheers Alastair.
Pretty sure..first time in history..all the men watching are really hooked on to that heavy machine gun demo than the chick here.....heavy machine gun vs beautiful girls..heavy machine guns Wins !!!!...even if its only on looks.
Looks impressive but was never a good system. Rapier FSA on a tracked vehicle, a terrible combination. A partially developed weapons system bequeathed to HM forces courtesy of the Iranian revolution. It does look good however!
filmed a few years ago now, currently painted in desert, lots of work done since and a complement of drill rounds as well! If you are in the know on this machine you are welcome to visit Tank School for an inspection!
Great video! Do you think you could make a video showing us how to drive a tank? I'm really curious as to what the controls are and what the cockpit is like!
