I know he was in free-spool to pull the cable out and slip it under the bull bar and over the anchor bar to the tie-in point. He didn't wipe off any line before winching the tank in. As mentioned before, ride the brakes until you're over the tank, then let the winch decide who's gonna move. Not un-experienced, just gotten lazy.
