@@TS-zp7pe in one way or another, the tides affect all sorts of fishing, including the reefs. When re-Fishing I find it best to be at the steepest part of the tide when water is rushing fastest. Those are the best times to let out a chum bag and get a good slick going. It is the most effective way to bring yellowtail, mango, snapper, and other fish out from the bottom and up to the surface.
This is an amazing reel. Just bought one after owning another previous generation sienna. It has lasted me over 8 years. This is very budget friendly but packs a punch. Walmart has the sienna 2500 at 29.99. That is a killer price to pick up.
I've got a sienna 500...after about a year, it binds when reeling to the point that I've lost fish and its miserable to use. It's probably worth what you pay for it for a while, but it's disposable.
I was looking for a new spinning reel and found the Shimano FX 2500 HG at Walmart for around $20, so I picked one up. Thanks for your video on this reel. I had not seen these reels before. I believe I will enjoy this reel.
This is the best sub $50 reel on the market, period. Shimano makes great reels at every price point and I’m especially impressed by the casting, no wind knots.
Yes my 1000 series has an anti-reverse bearing. I didn’t think it had one until i cleaned and greased it. It blends in with a black switch you can see if you look close.
I started with the 9’ 6w bighorn combo. Honestly it’s hard to beat for a starter rod. I’ve talked to a few anglers who haven’t bothered to upgrade and who have been fishing for years. Key is maintaining the combo properly and it will serve you well. I might eventually upgrade the fly line.
Enjoying the content, thanks! With the truck tent do you run into issue with wanting to use your truck for a quick run and take the tent off and put back on? Just wondering how easy, or difficult, to take it off assembled and put back on. Thanks!
the rod yea, the reel, hell no! cheap plastic, no weight at all, and this guy is getting $$$. I am not even taking a chance getting my new line wet, it may break bouncing on the back seat. again, hell no! you'll be sorry.
Hey man, i came from ur video about the ascend fs12t i just got an old on for bass fishing but you never posted a video standing on it, would you recommend it in calmer water?
This rod and reel combo is an absolute bargain. It's entry level, price-wise, but not entry level performance-wise. I am not brand new to fly fishing and am considered an advanced caster, and this Bighorn lineup of fly rods are outstanding. The Dogwood Canyon rod is a stunning deal for $49, but this Bighorn rod is crazy good. The performance to dollar is amazing. Get one.
I'm also thinking of getting this combo, but I"m also wondering what might be the difference between the White River Fly Bighorn Outfit & White River Fly Prestige Outfit.... The Prestige show you get a Sling pack, fly box, 12 assorted flies, 2 strike indicators, 2" Nippers, 5" Forceps, and 1" Clip-on Retractor w/ 18" cord!!!! I wonder which rod & reel might be a better combo?
Bought one of these when going to Cuba because I was worried about taking my expensive gear . Paired with a cheap fx rod the entire kit was under £60 and I was absolutely stunned by the quality of it . Makes cheap Chinese crap redundant
The sq3 rods are legit. I've got 3 7'6"s and they're my go to inshore rods. Very versatile. 2000 to 4000 reels all feel good on the rods. The pursuit 4 reels are meh. Just my personal take.
I agree on the pursuit reels, I think they’re not all there compared to same level Daiwa and Shimano products. The penn squadron 3 is a beast for the price I don’t understand the dislike for them from a ton of fisherman. I’ve never had a single guide eye pop out and they’re durable for what they are.
