Watched it on TV, during Christmas vacations, found it by chance, while changing channel, and it was a total surprise. I remember being amazed by it, though it was old (50 years at the time I saw it), and impressed by the quality of the music.
Fred Astaire has been my idol since I saw him on TV when I was about ten. I have never seen anyone who could emulate his style no matter how hard they tried.
Nuremberg 2.0 is needed in America today. The moral basis of our laws has been forgotten as Prosecutors and Judges act out of biased political motivations, or blackmail, or extortion. Unjust acts based upon immoral laws that deprive people of inalienable human rights will be punished. Let's hope it won't require the sacrifice of 60 million lives like it did the last time.
The world needs Nuremberg trials 2.0 right now. Socialists are still pursuing global domination and their attempt to destroy America under Biden and his co-conspirators are filled with crimes against humanity.
Hello Ralph, before I made my recent post, I did not notice the link you placed with your own personal memories/observations about being an extra on this film. It was very interesting and informative as to the detail which went into this very fun and memorable scene with Astaire and Caron. P.S. That is a great looking photo-clip of you. You certainly could have given Tab Hunter a run for his money! Cheers from Niagara Canada!!
Cheers and happy thanks Ralph! I wanted to make mention that today - January 20, 2023, is the birthday of the wonderfully talented band-leader (trumpeter) Ray Anthony. My God, he turned 101 years old today (born in 1922). By all accounts Mr. Anthony is still mentally sharp (still working) and going quite strong. Happy birthday dear sir!
Every previous Astaire musical had camera pans to follow the dancing. Cinemascope sort of prevented that. The camera might pan in and out a little at most.
He spoke French perfectly and Italian fairly good. He spoke a little bit Spanish (with a marvelous American accent😅) and I don't know about his level of Japanese. Anyway, he spoke and taught the language of the interpretation, the language of the soul like never anyone ever will. He was a genious, he is a genious!!!!! I admire & I love this attractive man with so rich interior life. *Regards from Spain*
I love when the music swells, and we the camera circles around the room. Everything had fallen apart for Larry, and this is the moment where it turns around.
