1975 I moved there from Glasgow with my dad when my parents split......it was hell - I hated every second of the place - got out of it as soon as I could
@bordercollies10 Wierd route. I guess they just couldn't get paths via Stewarton & Kilmarnock or Newton-on-Ayr & Mauchline (which would avoid the need to reverse).
There's also the miniature railway in Agnew Park. It'll be interesting to see what happens to the Stranraer-Girvan line once the ferry terminal moves to Cairnryan. I'd like to see them rebuild the railway to Cairnryan, but I don't see that happening, given the lack of money and the small number of foot passengers.
@bordercollies10 The one on the 18th is an SRPS railtour, which according to the Railway Magazine will be class 47s. I won't see it, however, as I will be at work that day. Also, did you see "Leander" yesterday? That went over the Mossblown branch as well! (See my channel for the video)
Unusually, this train came via Mauchline/Mossblown/Newton-on-Ayr. Its not often you see a passenger train on that line. Sadly I didn't quite catch it on video as it was early and I didn't have my camera ready.
excellent 5* it was meant to stop at barassis but due to a signaller error it didn't, great shot at ayr, you didn't get loads of people in your way. well done
