I believe it's ok to forgive him. And seek Godly counseling about reuniting or not. The important thing is He is asking you to forgive him.but has he gotten any help and treatment for his behavior toward you. Tell him to get help first so you can start to believe him some what.but but he still has to earn your trust. Because he disrespected you and beat you and try to force himself on you is no good. But if you can forgive him from your heart and tell him it won't be easy for you to believe him without him getting any professional help and counseling. The good Lord says to forgive so that we maybe forgiven. But it's up to you and Seeking God to help you in deciding whether you are to stay married to him. But I am just sharing with you my opinion.
