Funny how bang on Richard turned out to be - Almost 25 years later and I, someone who wasn’t even born when Come With Us came out, love The Test to bits and use it for DJing too. Soundtrack album, check. Working with a lot of guests, also check, their next album would be one of their most guest-heavy. Their best work coming out in the next few years, controversial but I think he’s absolutely right Push the Button is their best work. Mass murder, we still have to see but I wouldn’t be surprised at this point.
Noel doesn’t see that Oasis was never a good enough band to become number 1 without the media frenzy around their feud with Blur. What better way to market your working class band than “come see us, we’re like you, unlike these posh ponces Blur”
Noel thinks having insights into larger cultural shifts is condescending. I think it’s condescending of him to think that the only people who deserve to comment on anything are the people struggling too much to think about any of it. Once the insights of people too busy working to get education come together with the excess free time of people well-off enough to chase all the opportunities, we’ll be in a better position to make things fairer. We need middle class twats to care about the working class because who the fuck else is gonna help. Tony Benn the Labour politician was as posh as it gets, and he did more to help working people than Noel Gallagher the multimillionaire has ever done. The idea that only the poor should care about the poor is self-defeating. He’ll talk about Damon pulling some crafty trick as if he’s a huge cunt and then laugh about Liam harassing and bullying people. Noel might’ve grown up in poverty, it’s probably what gave him his drive and hardworking attitude, but ultimately he and Liam are both arrogant arseholes, just as bad as Damon’s pomp and delusions of grandeur. Noel’s narcissism has only been ignored because it’s dwarfed by Liam’s. I have to say I like all three of them as people , they’re very charismatic and overall pretty good guys, I just don’t agree with their opinions and the effect celebrity has had on them.
@@benstephanus4583 It’s part of their image, I suppose. Two arrogant but talented assholes who made it big. As people, if I was forced to hang out with them for an hour, I’d want to blow my own brains out by the end of that hour, hell maybe even the first half hour. 😂
I used to have the kind of view that Noel expressed in the first segment of this video, but I got older and realised that Damon is an artist. You can still care about politics and want to make a difference in some way without actually becoming a politician. Popular music really up until the 2010s was one of the best ways of spreading your influence. Also Noel glosses over the fact that Blur wrote about a range of things not just politics
