I moved to Lumberton in 2022. Got home from work. A gun fight broke out in front of my house. I called 911 twice..no one ever came. Even the cops are scared in this town. Watched a woman get stabbed as she came out of a restaurant with her kid .. There is no traffic enforcement here. Everyone drives like a-holes and your not even safe at a highchool football game. Lumberton and Robinson County is a dump. Over 60 murders in 2023. Great area...not.
Used to be a great place. I moved to the city next over. Fayetteville has gone completely downhill since city counsel caved into BLM. They allowed the distruction of downtown, and let them paint "Black Lives Matter" painted around the roundabout even though black businesses were affected. No one likes to go downtown anymore and it used to be such a beautiful place. Fayetteville cleans up crime areas ONLY during elections.
I live outside Kingston North Lenore county.Wonderful people, great place to live.I've been here 14 years.Very happy. All towns have their bad areas.Kenson is a nice town
Lumberton has not much there. It has a lot to do with crime & flood. I left Lumberton in 2012. I still go to Lumberton my family is still there., even if crime is around . People can't move away like that. It is what it is.😮😊
Young lady this is very well done; you have a lot of talent. Thanks for showcasing our beloved hometown; a lot of really great things are happening in ole Wide Awake Wilson.
If you didnt tell the whole wide world about these places we wouldnt have so many people flocking here , buying everything up and charging exhorbitant amounts just to park ...stfu
Agreed. I graduated from NC Wesleyan College in 1965, and the downtown area was booming on both sides of the tracks. Came thru on the train years later, and it was indeed a ghost town. Although I now have retired to North Carolina, I never returned to RM.
I live in New Bern moving up from Vero Beach 3 months ago. I agree that the downtown is very beautiful and the streets are historic with great shops and restaurants. IMO, that's where the excitement stops. You take a look at things to do and memorable experiences, maybe visiting Tryon Palace is at the top of the list. BUT, the Chamber of Commerce, the VisitNewBern group and the City are just sitting on their hands not doing anything extraordinary. The only big event of the year is in October, aka the Mumfest. Yea, they have this ongoing Farmer's market every Saturday with the same vendors pretty much the whole year. The VisitNewBern group has joined something called "Mainstreet USA", where they are supposed to be the coordinating entity for bigger things. Those things can include a monthly block party called "Last Friday" where say Middle Street is blocked off for a 3-4 hour timeframe. There would be a regional band playing, food trucks converge, vendors paying a nominal fee of $ 75 can set up their booths on the street and the BIG bonus is all the restaurants and shop keepers stay open till 8 pm so that all the visitors can enjoy their shops. I've seen what a success this can be first hand in Vero Beach, where I was one of the vendors. It's a great fund raiser that can support worthy causes raising a couple thousand dollars from the vendors, who can join the Mainstreet group for about $ 100 per year and get a discounted rental fee. Yea, they have an Art Walk sponsored by another group, visit the local graveyard, etc. Still haven't seen a Summer Concert Series, where some really good entertainment is booked to help fill up the hotels and restaurants for a two day Musicfest. This stuff is not rocket science. You just have to be motivated to "think outside the box" for a template that already exists. I think I'll be looking further South around the Morehead City/Swansboro area to put my permanent roots down.
