2:40 You missed a most important detail, this is a direct nod the the painting of the same name in the National Gallery, London, note the elongated skull in the foreground.
You are correct. Good catch! We were aware of this, but didn't make point it to mention it in the video. But we always point it out when it is on the wall in our gallery.

One of my most influential teachers at Otis from 1967 to 72 where I did my MFA in Painting and Lithography. Her was my drawing teacher from 67 to 69...He insisted on understanding and knowledge informing expression. We would draw from the same pose for 7 weeks to achieve what he considered a coherent drawing with integrity and expression....
I enjoyed this glimpse into the memorable past years of the Santa Barbara Art Institute. I was a student at the Brooks Institute of Art 1969-71. Thank you for this tribute to the founders, and mention of the staff and their influence. Long gone, but not forgotten, thanks in part to your wonderful video,
