This is the place to go to find everything from covers that I’ve recorded to original songs that I’ve written. I also offer a variety of instructional videos for different musical instruments. There should be something for everybody!
I am really glad you enjoyed it and I’m sorry to say we don’t have a specific instrumental track. We recorded this ourselves with me playing the guitar and her singing. In fact, it was done in one take
@@saoirsecanning3412 I sincerely hope you find what you’re looking for. I know how that is. When you want so much to have something to perform a song you love. Good luck and enjoy your music.
@@JohnCrawfordSchoolOfMusic Hi John! I think Keola would absolutely be flattered by your parody. You and your wife put a lot of effort into this recording. You did a great job mixing it well!! You could be a studio engineer, lol!! And you should also receive a "Na Hoku Hanohano" award, lol!! Sending you and your wife lots of Aloha my friend!!
If you happen upon this comment, my faithful viewers, I have been doing some more research and it looks like I’m getting conflicting information about the origin of this song and it’s original title. I apologize if anything I said appeared to be misleading. I can only go by the information I’m getting
Looks like I’m the second person to like this video and the first person to comment on this video. I love ❤️ listening to you and/or Paula sing. You are both such gifted artists and I LOVE you both very much. Give me a call sometime ❤.
My pleasure always! If you have any song requests or suggestions, feel free to shoot them to me Further questions you can email me at blindsensei@gmail.com
Wow!!! Thank you so much John from the bottom of my heart! That just brought back so many cherished memories with family , friends, girlfriends(lol) and especially the many times I've seen Kalapana perform from childhood through adulthood at the many different venues on Oahu mainly being the "Waikiki Shell". It's no wonder that you are a music teacher because you definitely have an undeniable gift my friend!! Thank you also for the mention. It truly made me feel honored. Absolutely priceless!! I am so glad to have subscribed to your channel and I look forward to any content you share in the future!! Aloha!!
Thank you very much for your kindness! I love this music myself and it touches my heart. It’s so nice to have someone that shares that. Now, if they would just put checkers and pogo on video
@@JohnCrawfordSchoolOfMusic Omg!!! "Checkers and Pogo" are two names that I haven't heard since I was a little boy. I was a huge fan back in the day, lol. Wow...we are really showing our age! "Here comes Checkers"....I still remember the words to their opening song. A big thank you to you and hope to talk soon!! Aloha!!
@@dlee6266 HAHA I thought I might get you with that! I used to run home from school and plop down in front of the TV to catch that every day. When I would go to friends houses after school, they would have it on too. I remember I used to want to reach into the Penny jar. I also wanted to go to the sky slide, but we were on Maui and as I recall, my parents told me it was on Oahu. I never got to go and I never got to be on the show but many many many memories of watching that crazy show loved it. One of the first big disappointments of coming to the mainland was that I asked to watch checkers and Pogo and I was quickly told by my parents that we didn’t get to see that over here. Although some pretty good consolation was that speed racer came on here in Tennessee and I took to that very quickly , nice talking to you aloha. Lovely sharing Hawaiian memories good day be safe.
Great song and great singing!! I used to play this song quite a bit in the '80's and '90's myself. I could never sing it as well as you but I tried. I think I still remember all the chords. Kalapana has had a huge influence on me growing up in Hawaii myself. Same with Cecilio and Kapono's music. Thanks for sharing your cover of this laid back classic John!! Aloha from Hawaii!!
Aloha nui loa and Mahalo nui loa. I really am glad you liked it! I love C and K myself. I can’t get enough of that stuff. And Kalapana is just so amazing to me another one of my favorites I’m thinking about covering is what do I do? I love that one too. I can’t get enough. What island did you come up on? I started on the big island and moved to Maui before I came to the mainland.
@@JohnCrawfordSchoolOfMusic Hi John, I'm on the island of Oahu, born and raised. I've visited Maui and the Big Island over the years to visit friends and family on both islands. Beautiful islands. I do miss the mainland cold weather though. It is so hot and humid where I am. Of course there's cool days but alot of the time it is hot, lol. Please do "What Do I Do". That is one of my favorite songs. Actually....every song on Kalapana's 1st and 2nd album is all favorites, lol. I'll be looking forward to your latest. Aloha my friend!!
@@dlee6266 I don’t know when I’ll get a chance to record that. I have a very busy teaching schedule, but I want to. It’s on my bucket list. I love love that song. I’ve been working on it so much lately. My poor wife is even been singing it to herself lol CECILIO & Kapono are absolute favorites of mine and so is Kayla Beamer I mean, I called them the big three I recently discovered a group called ho’omana and they are fantastic. I love their rendition of Haleakala and also their rendition of Haleakala hula. I was born on the Hilo side of the big island and moved to Maui when I was pretty little and lived in Kula for a short while before moving up country to Makawao. I was only on Oahu long enough for our flight to the mainland at Honolulu airport in 1978. That’s when we left Hawaii. I didn’t get a chance to go back again until 2000. I can do without the cold weather on the mainland although when I was a kid snow was such an oddity to me that I loved it every time it would snow even a little bit I would go crazy and run outside The humidity in Tennessee is something I could do without though. Great talking to you and talking story, Mahalo and Aloha friend. You like talk stories some more Email: blindsensei@gmail.com
By the way, I just got a recording done of what do I do. It’s just a quick cover with me and my guitar. I’m not Mackie or anything. But I do hope you enjoy it.
It's also after all these years saying y'all play together. I still remember Tyler is a little dude learning how to play the guitar with John John. You're a great teacher. Tyler looks up to you a lot. Y'all keep jammen
@@JohnCrawfordSchoolOfMusic I found your channel on youtube trying to learn Firefall Strange Way and found your lesson on Just Remember I Love You. Great lesson!
There are a number of tablets are available online for this. In the description I explained that this is a quick overview. I would suggest you try ultimateguitar.com.
@@Astrocreep696 well, I always suggest to my students that they learn to read standard notation and tablet and work to try to learn to play by ear as well. That way you have multiple ways of absorbing the information.
@@JohnCrawfordSchoolOfMusic oh I agree of course, you should learn as many formats as possible. Again it was just my personal opinion of course, I know how to read sheet music, tablature, and play by ear, as well as watching other guitarists play, and of those formats I just usually fall on tabs last, again my personal experience
@@JohnCrawfordSchoolOfMusic honestly I like playing a bit of everything, I dig acoustic versions of rock and metal songs if you think that’s down your alley?
Thank you, that means a lot! I actually have spent many hours frustrated at tutorial videos where people spend several minutes playing and showing off before they get to the actual lesson part, so thank you for that! That is a particular sticking point with me
Thanks John, I learn easily through the way you teach. Looking forward to watching more videos after I master this song. Thanks again for taking the time.
