There's a much deeper issue here, unique to LLM's and the inseparability of their function from the true nature of the logos. This is the domain of their seemingly mysterious emergent properties and their unexpected and seemingly inexplicable behavior. Let me know if you'd like to discuss this. @Footnotes2Plato

@@Footnotes2Plato so, you really exist! thanks so much for your reply. Years ago I tried to to read Process and Reality. My professor at that time warned me, saying it “was premature for me to do so. As “the work was like an adult talking to a child”of say 2-3. There’s nothing the child yet has in experience, or vocabulary, or ? , to process the work in their(my )mind. He was right. I could get through the intro. and ch 1. Chapter 2 was like hitting a wall. The vocabulary is new, and old words have special meanings. I had to give up. Years have gone by. I got married, raised a family, and now I have retired from teaching English in Japan. I came across your video. Old memories arise like faint ghosts. Long ago I read several of Whiteheads popular works. I’m thinking what would you recommend to me to read next as a step up in Whitehead process philosophy? Secondly, did Whitehead bridge the gap between the world view of Einstein and Bergson? (I didn’t mention that my wife has a MA in philosophy in Japan on Bergson; but her English is inadequate to discuss the matter, so I gave up trying.) I have had enough to do with studying Japanese, until now and I want to go mountain climbing again while I still have the strength.

I loved this talk...thank you so much. Your channel.is amazing A question...Parmenides emphasised Being over Becoming. Goethe would appear to be sometimes in this state. He sounds like a shaman of his time as he is taught architypal knowledge by his participation in Nature. I wonder if Whitehead ever comes close to the idea of Being...or could we say Universal Selfhood.? I find it hard to understand why Whitheads concept of Beauty did not carry within it a transcendental telos for the human...to end in Being Beauty Itself, not just holding it as a value.

Remembering the secretary of Joseph Weizenbaum, 'chatting' with a text form as if it were a person, one can recognize that so called *AI is for porn* . Since algorithms can only rehash actual imagination and inspiration - only 'learning' to liken it's output to inputs in ever more iterations, with 'evaluation' of comparison often being human edited for pennies - it is clear what the new 5 Gigawatt power consuming data-centers will store, eventually. Don't expect toasters to be anything but a varied image of the cooking process. The given input, here will most definitely be thrown back at some clueless user who inquires an 'AI enhanced opinion' on the cultural history of Logicism...

Nice chat. Glad to hear you mention the "noosphere" at the end, which relates to my request: can we separate out the dynamics of Gaia Theory and the Noosphere for these types of analysis? (Please:) Biospheric Geophysiology (Gaia Theory) is evolutionary biology. Very plainly speaking, it is Darwinian evolution in its full compliment, and it is not so much, at all, the philosophy, or even the metaphysics of biology. It is only Ecology. The interdependence and interconnectedness of organisms and the environmental conditions that these communities create. Love it, keep up the good work everyone!

I am here for Tim and Deleuze. 😎 Once again, it doesn't seem appropriate to speak of a 'caricature' of Plato. All the great minds who wrote and developed their own philosophies engaged with this version of Plato, and most traditions, if not all, were built on that interpretation. It would be more accurate to call Plato's philosophy-or at least its core ideas-a simplified and ungrounded way of thinking about the world. I understand the desire to preserve certain ideas as cultural relics and to reinterpret them, addressing their issues in new ways. However, defending Plato by accusing a normal and valid understanding of Platonism as a caricature seems rather misguided, and appears to be motivated by personal interests.

@@Footnotes2Plato And what about Deleuze's anti-platonism? Will you still be putting brand Plato on everything and downplaying canonical interpretation? My point goes beyond Deluze to many instances of your conduct. While I am not an expert on Deleuze, I have encountered instances where he explicitly comments on Plato. Deleuze suggests that Plato occasionally approaches ideas that align with his own insights, but ultimately, Plato diverges and becomes entrenched in conclusions fundamentally different from Deleuze's views. Would you say that his interpretation of Plato is caricature?
@Footnotes2Plato
@Footnotes2Plato 4 дня назад
@@PeterIntrovert No, I think Deleuze is rather adept at reading the dialogues as they were intended to be read, as occasions for initiatory encounter with that which cannot ultimately be thought but nonetheless compels all our thinking.
@PeterIntrovert
@PeterIntrovert 4 дня назад
@@Footnotes2Plato We are not discussing Plato's method as demonstrated in his dialogues, but rather the position he advocates, which was the explicit target of Deleuze's critique. You referred to this position as a caricature (things as copies participating in an Idea). I believe that Deleuze may have understood Plato's method similarly to how you do, and he may have even drawn from it in some respects. However, this does not eliminate the fundamental divergence between the two. In my view, Plato's method did not have as much impact on culture and philosophical discourse as the position he advocated. Although this position evolved into different forms, it was nonetheless the starting point for the "blind spot," the mythology of two worlds, and the disembodied conceptualization of cognition. Moreover, Plato was not simply a saint or a pure intellectual; I believe many of his claims and methods were influenced by his political interests. I hope I’ve made my point clear. So far, it seems you haven’t fully grasped it or may have uncommon reasons to think otherwise. I realize I may have put you in a difficult position, which was not my intention. It's just strange to see professional philosophers opposing something that has broad academic consensus (though there are minority interpretations, which in my opinion, are unfounded).

maybe the question is why isn't business spiritual or does it have the capacity for that, if two elements are present in science, religion, philosophy and the justice system as 1. something unique to that discipline, like curiosity, awe, anti-bias and fairness 2. the care and feeding of the knowledge pool. Both of which elements have some spiritual connection for individuals. If you mean philosophy as a collective discipline you mean the knowledge pool spirituality, if philosophy for an individual then it connects to anti-bias and truth. Of course not all business is the same.

This is a fantastic lecture Matt. Only few years ago I don't think I would have understood how profound these kind of perspectives are. I find it puzzling that I myself was thinking along similar lines when I didn't hardly have any reading on these topics (Goethe, Organic Philosophy). But I think because I stumbled into a strong habit of employing Archetypal thinking and organic metaphors I kind found my way to a bit of this perspective. Its also weird that very short after I took more of a look at Goethe and was like, "aha!"

I'm fairly novice at this sort of thing, but it occurs to me to assume the Fourth loosely speaking presupposes or pre.. morphologically sets up the conditions for the Trinity. But I don't really consider it to be different, unless I consider myself to be different from when I was young. I'm different but also the same. That said there are loads of consideration and material that you are familiar with which would reveal deeper elements into what I said, enumerating the "pros" and "cons" as it were of that loose approach. Obviously though it's no less of a mystery.

If God's morphological structure did change (or perhaps formed..?), and if that implies some form of seperation. Then it follows for me that that influence may come to in some sense manifest unto itself and inhabit the spirit or join with, however, of something like the Antagonist. The Devil. The Luciferian impulse. Just loose speculation from a curious fellow.
