I was there, great show. Heard songs Jeff hadn’t done in a long time.Hendrix and Jeff Beck, it ends there. Too bad Rod couldn’t make it but I saw them both at the Wiltern.
I love how it holds back. You could go all out epic with a melody like this, but no, it keeps you waiting, it’s so beautiful when it finally comes in, and just as soon it’s gone again… and all you want is to hear it one more time. ❤
Not a bad song. However, it doesn't really feature any of Jan Hammer's keyboard playing. I guess I'm kinda spoiled with his interaction with Jeff Beck.
Since I heard this song again in the movie The Fall Guy I haven't been able to get it out of my mind. I need to buy the Miami Vice series so that it stays with me always. ❤️🎶🎭💯💥
I was trying to be a young evangelical Christian back in the 80s, when Miami Vice was on, Friday nights - my guilty TV pleasure. I’d hear the Tom Tom drum intro to Jan Hammer’s fantastic theme music, see the bikinis on screen, and feel a wave of joy and peace that I never got from Jesus.
Beck was pigeonholed as Fusion back in the 70s, which is why I, as a teen rock fan, didn’t know Jeff Beck back then, who is pure ROCK guitar, just without vocals.
Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario 64, SMRPG, Tomb Raider, ReBoot, and Short Circutz (how I saw these shorts). The exciting new world of 3D in my childhood.
Driving through the neon-lit streets of Vice City while blasting this song has never felt so good. Never seen the show that GTA: Vice City took inspiration from.
This was a great reunion ! First time I saw JB was with Jan during the Wired Tour when it came through Omaha. Fricking excellent show. Last time I saw him in person was the Back Yard just outside of Austin, with Jennifer B. on that techno album tour, again excellent show. What amazed me about Jeff other than his great guitar playing and improvising wizardry, is that he never appeared to break a sweat, confident and having fun the whole show. Pretty amazing considering the thousands of notes he played flawlessly.
