I know it's been a couple of years but thank you for putting up these videos. One of my favorite memories was my yiayia cooking avgolemono or kritharaki while papou was in the other room yelling about when the food was going to done. Lovingly of course. "Vrai beba! Pote tha einai etimo to fayi?!" (I understand the Greek but not sure how the words would be spelled in English, lol.)
❤❤❤ love watching yiayia Maria cook and hearing her talk. It reminds me of cooking with my yiayia when I was younger. Wishing her and all of your family good health.
For all the idiots and haters out there who are counting the ingredients like arseholes. This man is adding baking powder and salt to the plain flour to create self raising flour. Or you would have to bloom yeast to add to the flour so it can rise and be a fluffy dough.
Aw, I'm so glad I found you! My mom passed (she's in pic w/me and daughter) and she was truly the best cook! I never sat and watched and learned (shame on me) and now I'm missing esp. stuffed tomatoes! I'm going to attempt to make Yiayia's and pray they come out like my mom's did. My parents came to US from Greece and I'm probably the only greek who doesn't know other greeks (sad again) - So now, I'm going to claim you and your mom, LOL (hugs/kisses) Yana
Me encantó la música griega del final. ¡Dejen a la yia yia quieta! Ella no es “perfeccionista”, ella es la que está compartiendo “su” receta. ¡Bravo yia yia!
Fantastic video and I love watching tradition in families when they make holiday food! I would love to make this bread for Easter but I wouldn’t dare try to guess the measurements I’m sure that I would mess the whole thing up!
I was literally thinking about the Yia Yia bread episode and what an incredible recorded recipe. I want to make it but the thought of it makes my whole body ache😂
I'm Greek and this guy has no clue what is going on lol, hilarious. Yiayia is spot on, he doesn't know even what vinegar is, or phyllo for that matter. It's amazing and funny to watch her work, he basically plays with the line of making fun of her. Yiayia is all business with making the tiropita though and her recipe is really very nice. Bet it tastes yummy. She's like a pro in the kitchen, he probably is a professional eater :)
Fantastic video and recipe.. Can you please tell us the name of the Vanilla from Greece and are ALL the recipes she made in this video listed in PRINT somewhere with all the directions written out, too? Just love to see how she's made all this and I am sure this is at our Greek Festival at the Orthodox church here in Bradenton, FL, during the first week of February every year. Have never tried this yet, but loved the Baklava they have sold! Can't wait to try this one there, too. I already have the Athens Phyllo dough, but want to know the name of the Greek Vanilla and what stores carry it, too! Thanks so much for a great video. I love cooking from scratch and can't wait to try this recipe (in PRINT online somewhere?)
THIS!!! Do you realize what a gift you have posted?!!! I can already tell this is the real deal. My Yia Yia passed many years ago and I never got to learn how to make Yia Yia bread. All of these other recipes so conservative with the ingredients. I knew it was the real deal when you add 13 eggs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you Yia Yia!!!
I am waiting to get my electric wheelchair and a ramp built. I have been inside the house for 3 years now laying down. My blood pressure goes at 60/40 dangerously low. I cannot sit only lay nack in my recliner and my spine got worse. So I will try and make disjes I can put in the oven to cook. I cannot stand long enough to make a sandwich so cookong in the pot I cannot do. 😢
Ειμε τοσω χαρουμενη που σας βρηκα. Ι grew up eating Northern Greek cuisine. My parents are from a village called Avarahi near Ptolemaida. My mothwr is Greek εντωπια and my father Ποντιος. Μarried 57 years. I have been disabled for 20 years by severe Spinal disease. I can walk but for short while my Husband cooks for us now, I havent cooked in 15 years. I am greatful that my husband cooks for me but I have been cooking Greek food since I was an early teenager. His cooking Hod bless him is horrible. He used mostly frozen canned and pre-packaged food and I lost weight from 160 to 103 lbs. Now he is sick with Diabetes and as soon as I get a bit better I wantvto cook again. Or I will starve. But it has been so long, I forgot how much to put in my meals for only two people. I used to cook for him, our 4 children and his parents. I sm so happy to find you!
