I am not a fan of the impressionist style, as you know. However, I really enjoyed that and do like the outcome. Maybe we could do something similar one class (although me and negative painting..... 😂)
You let the acrylic underpainting dry before putting the oils on top. It’s up to you whether you allow each oil layer to dry, but doing so can take months
What size quill brush do you use? I’m a beginner/improver and I’m thinking of getting one, but don’t know what size/ brand to purchase. I mostly paint on A4 and A5 size paper. Thanks for any advice you can share. 😊
Sending you lots of love. Life isn’t easy at times. I’m so glad that art helped you deal with things and now you are channeling that to help others. 🙏❤️
This was fun! I've not yet even tried (til today!) to paint a face with water colors. I did a quick thumbnail sketch to give it a go and have one question please: should layers dry before adding shadows?
It depends on the effect you’re after. If a layer is damp it can give you subtle blends, if it’s dry it will give you harder edges, but importantly if it’s almost dry, you will get ‘cauliflowering’ in watercolour, or will lift of the under layer in acrylics.
I wake up and think of Jesus and pray and in the midst of that um thinking of my next art piece. I go to bed thinking about art and things/scenes I see in movies and on the internet and in everyday country life ...I am in my head thinking how id paint it. The only thing I lack is confidence ...so I paint one painting a day on a small canvass until the confidence and loose painting comes !
