Nice machine, but no good for our jobs here New Zealand, there turn radius is too big for our sites, 627 & D8R & Scoops struggle, biggest scraper down here is 637C/D/E/E-II/K on Expressway jobs, and even then the 637 is too heavy for our ground conditions, only big 657's and 660B's are in museums
We used a 745c Cat tractor with tires & a MT4200 scraper pan. With the tires at optimum psi, you could indeed travel at 32mph, on a good haul road. Self loading did take time & if there was any ground moisture, it was easy to get stuck. Dozer assist helped, but in the end, for expedience, we went to a 349 with oversized bucket. Fill time 30 seconds. Traveling uphill or on spongy material fully loaded, forget it, 4mph. Tare weight 165000lbs, full load by excavator 65000lbs, 225000lbs of slow roll. Company is going a different route this season I hear... Good control & ability to lay down precise quality lifts, but too slow for needed production.
@pushysix scot I've seen one fisrt hand, they have power, but don't have the travel speed of a tractor, awesome for quick rounds tho, super noisy, like crazy noisy. They had some track issues with the one I seen, also some eject cylinder issues, I believe it was a prototype machine
