The biggest and most loved carry on stars we all know got peanuts for each film - the male stars got no more than £5K per film, the females £2K or 3K. If they asked for better deal, they got dropped immediately. This happened to Peter Butterworth. Rogers, the tight arse cleaned up.
I watch Wire in the Blood over and over again. It was my first introduction to Robson Greens work. Then I searched out everything I could find to watch Robson Green along with him teaming up with Jerome musically, in the USA.
Brenda is very lovely down to earth. You can see how well she works with others and the caring she has for other people. I would love to have her as a big sister. Keep up the great work.
Perhaps if he paid the cast equivalently like Hattie Jacques, Charles Hawtrey, Joan Sims, and Kenneth Williams to Sid James, they'd have had nearly 10 more years.
Considering Sid James died in 1976 your point doesn’t make sense as they couldn’t possibly carry on for 10 years with people like Hattie dying 4 years later too. The only thing that really stopped it was Sid’s death otherwise I think it would have kept going.
@@GuitarJammerJohn No when I said 10 more years, or nearly, I wasn't referring to the length of the Carry On films, but the extended life of the cast. Take Hattie, with all the money that Peter Rogers had, Hattie wasn't insured for her health. Charles Hawtrey died in poor conditions, and Liz Fraser hoped for Roger's support when Joan Sims was on her last legs but Roger refused.
A greedy man who made multi millions of pounds with the carry on franchise . He paid them actors peanuts & enjoyed the fact he was a penny pincher. Maybe it’s true the good die young that why he lived well into his mid 90s. He then left a few million to a charity for struggling actors after fame maybe he thought by doing this he’d get a golden ticket through the pearly gates . Only parting with it dosh through death .
Rogers quote : they were like a family , exactly like a family.... Exactly - familiarity breeds contempt. He would do anything for them as long as it didnt involve money or increasing wages. 🥴
Mark Strong is by far the best villain actor in movie history since he did an outstanding job portraying Lord Blackwood and Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. His villainous powers are inspirational and sensational.
Love all of the series, as much for the drama as for the homesick scenery views. Ann Cleeves and Brenda Blethyn have done so much for my home town of Whitley Bay!
I love how the Queen had to giver permission to use part of the forest .. and not many people have ever seen it before … I guess Robin Hood never conquered tyranny
