Thanks for this! In the future can you please create a video on how to move a calendar from a SharePoint communication site to a new Team? Having a lot of people ask me to do that and haven’t found a clean way to do it
Unfortunately, this is going to be a "heavy" lift. Meaning you are going to have to jump through some hoops or purchase some software. The easiest way is to just burn a copy using Sharegate. I can't tell you how many times Sharegate has saved my life. If you can't afford the software, the next easiest will be creating a Power Automate flow to copy the items for you. Do you have Power Automate?
@SharePointIn60Seconds I have a tab called files, which has a descending list of shared items. I'm not finding a way to get the shared tab, but this works just as well. Maybe my corporate settings are not allowing me to see it. I find that to be the case pretty often. Thanks for all the help and your hard work putting these videos out. Your format fits perfectly into my busy day! I appreciate you.
@lisacervantes9419 thx for watching! And yes you can show events from the calendar on a modern SharePoint sitr page. Just add the "event" web part and then select the event list or lists you want to show. Here is a link to my video on this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KuySuFyL8Cc.htmlsi=hT7mJm3owIE3Dc7o
I haven't tried this before...but chat gpt suggests... Column validation on a lookup column in SharePoint isn't directly supported because lookup columns don't have the same validation options as other columns like text or number fields. However, there are some workarounds you can use: ### Option 1: **Use a Calculated Column** 1. **Create a Calculated Column**: - Add a new calculated column to your list. - Use a formula to check the value of the lookup column. The formula can return a value like "Valid" or "Invalid" based on the condition you want to enforce. - Example Formula: ``` =IF([Lookup Column] = "Specific Value", "Valid", "Invalid") ``` 2. **Create a View Filter**: - Create a view that only shows items where the calculated column is "Valid." - This won't prevent invalid data from being saved but will at least flag it visibly. ### Option 2: **Use Power Automate (Flow)** 1. **Create a Flow**: - Use Power Automate to create a flow that triggers when an item is created or modified. - The flow can check the value of the lookup column and take action if the value is invalid (e.g., sending a notification, modifying the item, etc.). ### Option 3: **Use Power Apps** 1. **Custom Form**: - If your list uses a custom Power Apps form, you can add validation logic directly in Power Apps to prevent the user from submitting the form if the lookup value is invalid. 2. **Display Error Message**: - You can also display error messages or disable the submit button until the correct value is selected. ### Option 4: **Use JavaScript/Client-Side Code** 1. **Inject JavaScript**: - If you're comfortable with JavaScript, you can inject client-side code to validate the lookup field before the form is submitted. - This method requires using a SharePoint Framework (SPFx) extension or Content Editor Web Part to add the script. These methods help you achieve the desired validation effect, though they require different levels of effort and technical know-how. good luck and let us know if any of the above works out!!!
Dear Thank you for supporting us, keep up. I have 1 question i have a form to book our CEO calendar and there is drop down-list with 10 choices i want the user to choose one choice only and the next user can’t select the same option the first user did. Who this work in infopath
I would suggest converting this from infopath into a SharePoint list, or a Power App. So sorry but I don't really do anything with infopath now except convert to Lists or powerspps.
@@SharePointIn60Seconds I use the event list from the calendar to populate events on my "page". The issue is on the page it says for instance, Meeting 2pm - it doesn't say Meeting 2pm - 3pm. If i'ts an all day event (even when clicking on all day) it says Meeting 12am. I hope this makes sense
@@sandramiller6687 thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately, it does not appear that the Events web part is designed to show the end time. You will most likely have to resort to some kind of custom solution. I would imagine the juice isn't really worth the squeeze.
Hi Carolina Mic, your video has saved my bacon.... Like you, I made errors the first time and had no idea how to fix them, until your showed me how. Your explanation rocks! Thanks ever so much. Regards from South Africa.
Thank you! I am building a SharePoint Communication site, and now that I have you, I don't feel alone! Thanks for making it less boring and speaking so clearly!
@jimmykahn5431 IF it is on teams. Not all sharepoint sites are connected to a MS Team. If the file opens on Office Online, you can follow the path by looking at the drop down near the file name. It will give you the folder name and the library name. If you click on the library name and end up inside a folder on the default "Documents" library, then your file could possibly be seen in Teams within a channel by the same name. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
@@SharePointIn60Seconds Thank you for your reply, i did the same method , but for our user it won't work, not sure where i missed. it says access denied now for the site.
@@praveeng3921 I'm sure you'll get it figured out! You got this! 1st...if you're using an AD/Azure/Entra security group....make sure the user is part of that group. Next Make sure the SharePoint Group you created has access to the location you want them to see. Good luck!
It's my understanding that a group calendar belongs to a M365 group and M365 email is homed in exchange. You may pull in a group calendar as web part on a page...however it should not appear as an event list in SharePoint. Only calendars created and homed in SharePoint will appear as events lists in SharePoint. I hope this answers your questions...and I know the community will promptly step in if any of the above needs correcting! Good luck and thanks so much for watching!!!
I had to click "like" for your intro song. And I didn't know it was a best practice to not use spaces, and what a great idea to include that the list can be deleted in the description. Imma subscribe. =)
Thx for watching! It's avail for listening on my SoundCloud. Someday, I'll release it to the streaming services. Here's my SoundCloud link if you'd like to listen before it gets released. Listen to Maple Syrup Mix #2 by Carolina MiC Music on #SoundCloud on.soundcloud.com/Et7zq
Did not work on our side. When we give righs like this the file is not accessible at all... Because you have to "open" a file to read it.... If you uncheck that box, the users can do nothing with te file. Not read it anyway.
No, you actually do not have to "open" the file to view it per se. You will need to go to the library, visit library settings, visit advanced settings, and make sure that you do NOT have "open in client app" selected. That's if you want to allow folks to view the file without downloading. This will ensure the file launches in the browser vs the app. When it's launched in the browser with the permission described in this video, the end user can see the contents but cannot edit, cannot download, and cannot open it in the word app. I suspect the reason it isn't working is because the advanced settings is forcing the files to open in Word. Good luck! Keep us posted!!!
its horible... when you have views just for employees and others for admins employees see now all views what is unacceptable... formated views doest work too... at least allow admins to rollback as with modern/classic design
The issue I’m having is adding that comment button in the first place. I go to advanced settings where you would toggle the option on/off (Near Attachments enabling), but it’s not even there. SharePoint version?
Hey thanks for watching and sorry you're having trouble with that. I can confirm this feature is available in SP in M365, Microsoft Lists, and MS Teams. I guess if you are on prem then this will probably not work
@@SharePointIn60Seconds thanks for the video and quick reply! It’s strange because I have it through office 365, but it’s at my work so maybe you’re right if the sub is different.
