The "Rheinstimmen" was founded in 2019 as a project choir for singing musicians and experienced singers and has quickly developed into one of the most sophisticated ensembles on the Swiss choral scene. The singers rehearse demanding choral literature largely under their own direction and then prepare it for concerts in concentrated joint rehearsals.
The repertoire is primarily drawn from what English college and cathedral choirs sing in their Evensong celebrations. The choir is directed by Reiner Schneider-Waterberg and made its debut at the end of April 2019. The choirmaster creates a new music program every two months, which is presented to the audience as a concert.
The Rheinstimmen are conceived as a project choir and are reconstituted in size and voice division for each program. Depending on the program, professional soloists and musicians are also engaged.
