You Hao is an example of a gymnast who silently works hard and is one of the most reliable team member who puts in his part to enable a very good team score, was sad that he was not selected as main team of 5 for Paris, he will likely retire not long after this, actually China have many many good gymnasts but as competition is so stiff, only selected ones make the main cut for the Olympics, I wondered if they should do like some sports like Table Tennis and badminton where they actually take their craft to go to another country to compete and at the same time elevate the overall standards in other countries and they themselves also have chance to compete at Olympics.
I would love for someone to explain how on earth he's only getting 8.700 execution. He has one of the best circle shapes out there and he is consistently straight the entire routine, except maybe on the dismount. Is it the skewed shoulders in the magyar sivado? Shouldn't that only remove like 0.2? It makes no sense to me.
Yeah it's a tough one. I got 1+1 on the scissors, late to close the legs and the back bend, not as smooth as ever on the coming down which could be another 1. Starting the wendeswings he bends the hips to the side, so you could do another 1+1 on the flop and the between pommel russians. Magyar and shivado he is very skewed, bordering 1 and 3. I don't think it's wrong to go either way, hard to see it in action, but I lean towards 3+3. Ending the Wu Gonian he again bends the hips sideways +1 Going for dismount he bends the knees +1 And that is 1.2 - 1.3
The problem with near perfect gymnasts, you can easily spot the little imperfections. While the gymnasts that struggle a bit more will have several 0.1 imperfections overlooked because of other mistakes. Scoring gymnastics is convoluted and hard, while it's super easy to make mistakes. I don't know why they don't just review the video and award the score, it could slim down the judge panels significantly and scores would be more objective.
Her super turns give the impression that she's "weak" on the acrobatic side (people keep saying that). But here she used 5 D-level acro skills on her difficulty score, there's 2.0 points of acro in that 5.9 start value. That was only 0.1 less than Simone (2.1), the same as Shilese (2.0) and higher than Zhou (1.9) and Rebeca (1.6). Alongside turning, Wevers actually has a great acro.

Deserved Silver. Those E scores are LOW considering they throw low 9s and high 8s for barely landed, underrotated Chengs with massive form issues. Both vaults were great in the air with a 0.1 landing deduction each. Vault execution judging is broken.
I saw her interviewed on Dutch TV after Rio and she said when she saw Simone's low score ... then she corrected herself. "No, not a low score, a score we didn't expect." She still had so much respect for Simone that she corrected how she described the score. That's class.

@@chadchan4985if she connect the three element at 0:37 - 0:42 she would get +0.2 CV (D+D) and +0.1 CV (D+B) + 0 1 SB (D+D+B) and the 1/1 and 2/1 turns 1:46 - 1:50 another +0.1 CV, so potentially +0.5 (6.4 final)

Was really cool to see Simone hug her right after Sabrina got her score, it’s hard to be 4th. She was incredible, and I hope she feels proud, came so close to the podium. I actually really like this music but I hope they find something for her next year that she can really get into, she is a real contender in Paris.
