100% agree on loving the ‘toys’ - so much fun to be had on Volcas, Aira Compacts, POs, etc. and it’s relatively easy to come up with $100-$200 when the urge to splurge hits - still haven’t tried any Sonicware or Novation or even Behringer synths - the frugal possibilities are endless!
The only sampler i have which allows to resample external source along with the internal pads: You can then play an instrument while recording a drum pattern, this is killer
it still a great machine , really , for beginners and do astonishing phrase song even for professional in some cases of quality .. its true its a slow processor in sampling operation but amazing in a lot of another case.. compares to this time machines ..😊 we would liked for exemple to be able to adjust in real time some part of patterns .. or when recording to be able to adjust with listening to the tap of metronom without stop the record and go out to change the parameter .. after all these .. i love it .. and don't regret to buy it even 20 years later it still completely ravish me 😮 .. 😊 .. 🤩👍🏾
.. we can adjust the volume of each pad (event) separately in "micro --> F3" in the "micro scope edit" .. and a lot of adjustment like quantize and adding event (drum or piano etc) we didn't in first time.. 😊
thanks brother .. now im able to sample my loop without crazy asynchronousity .. we must so indicate the bpm in sampling operation and trunc the part out of loop at this exact bpm .. if we sample putting ''with bpm'' off it does not gonna to be a synchronous bpm with all the elements of my loop.. thank you so much 😊.. i was so sad to cannot create crazy rythm for any lyrics phrase i would sample .. now it will be much precise and of course better .. let the music play !!!!!!!!!!! 😅😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
So I “consider” myself as a junglist, drum and bass head for more than a decade now, since I felt in love with this genre and all of its sub genres. Love atmo and liquid especially, and I’ve never really pushed my love into turntables, somehow. I am now 33 yo, I can’t rave as I used to because, well life you know and I’ve recently (like, this morning) got a need revived for on the fly music production. I’ve been looking since launch for autonomous devices such as the circuits. I’ve been struggling to make a choice between the tracks and the rythms, in case I fall for one. Well, mate, I thing you’ve just push me into that bloody rabbit hole I’ve been looking at for the last -check hour- 4 hours, wondering from one review to another devices comparaison video. I have absolutely 0 knowledge in music production, but I already got a coworker that may be a good jamming mate (he still have a 20 years old X3 KORG to play with at the office). Man, where am I going to ?
Personally wanted to tell you I think your a Korny sheep....you can't just have a conversation I never pick sides and you clearly do. You're the reason america is going under and civil war might be a thing.... I dont vote but you judge instantly. with love michael alejos You're a korny sheep Be somebody not everbody homie
Is it possible to send some of the tracks via USB to the iPad and the rest out the 1/4 mains? To create a sort of ipad FX bus for only some of the tracks? Also does the ipad introduce any latency?
@@MattGreerMusic No, I mean like on the Yamaha QY8 - it has a repeat function, so you program a few notes, like two measures worth and then you press repeat and it’ll play those notes infinitely, a loop! The Korg Kaossilator is similar, in that, you play a few notes [lead] then a few more [bass line], then add some drums and the Kaossilator will play them in a loop for as long as you wish. Like you can jam for 20 minutes non-stop while adding more notes ON TOP of the loop… I don’t think you can “jam” on the QY10, seems to me like you might be able to program a melody, press play, it plays and then, that’s it! Am I wrong?
@@Powhart it's made by beat makers boutique. I highly recommend any of their cases. www.beatmakersboutique.com/collections/specialty-items/products/spo-xs-bkrsclb-edition
hey men, i also have the minijam filter, but unfortunately mines fell and between the freq and res are now some components missing, i tried to get in touch with the original maker but he doesnt respond, would yo ube able to make a picture of the patchblock so i could see which component i need to get as replacement? that would be really nice@!
That is an interesting way of looking at it, and like your D&B song. I am a bit confused by his machine. I am trying to figure out a workflow for doing live, improvisational DAWless gigs. Any tips? Your idea gives me the idea of just creating a bunch of scenes that would be basics parts I then kind of jump back and forth on, and jam (using the EP-133 and maybe a small synth). Maybe that could work.
All that wasted money, time and energy to sample a couple notes and have it repeated over and over and over, and listening to it over and over and over, and then thinking you're some kind of special. SMFH.
Crazy drop starts 0:16 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Once again PO33 is a filthy little beast! I produce jungle/breakbeat hardcore/ dnb in a DAW and using different hardware but each time I take this little thing final effect is soundclash badboy old school jungle with chopped breaks and riddim samples. With 4 channels you have to be creative just like in old school days with Octamed tracker.
@@MattGreerMusic I think about to buy performance sampler for play live jungle breaks and do some spicy shit with this samples. And I'm choose between sp404/rhythm/lofi12. Melodic parts will do on modular synth. Can you advice what should I buy? This video just sell this machine to me
Interesting question. I suppose it depends on how engaged you want to be with the creation of the music while performing live. Lately I've been playing live DnB with my SP-555. I sample most of the track to a single pad for playback and then I play live synths and manipulate effects on top of it. It's kind of a hybrid approach between DJ and live sets. That being said, the Rhythm is the most competent at being a "groove box" of those options. It's a highly underrated sampler IMO.
Buenas una pregunta esa batería me serviría para trabajar en vivo con un grupo, ya q yo trabajo con una drum machine boss dr880. Pro ando buscando algo parecido pro q tenga sampler un poco más moderno
Great demo! Also fun to apply fx to a drum track and then write it, lather-rinse-repeat if desired for some wonderful sonic mangling. Cross fading between mangled/original drums can be a great sound, but eats up tracks of course. DRUMS CAN BE MONO ON A SINGLE TRACK! Almost no one will notice or care if they do. Just thinking out loud, again, great work.
I like this a lot! For the "chords," is that a piano sample? Where did you source it, please, if you don't mind sharing. Would enjoy hearing more of your M:S work. Maybe some tutorials to help newbies like me, that would be great, too! Thanks.
Thanks so much for the kind words. The piano chords (and most of the samples actually) came from an older DnB sample pack called "Skyline." It has a focus on melodic, atmospheric and liquid Drum and Bass sounds. If you'd like to hear more M:S work, I have a lot of videos using it including a full DnB set as well as a full downtempo set made with this device. Both are here on my channel in my elektron playlist. Let me know if you have questions about using it and I'll definitely be happy to answer those too.
