Its refreshing seeing people in challenging places in life being given places of power and prestige. This confounds wisdom and shows humanity that all people can contribute.
I love how "modern" world people apply "their" beliefs to this time period. Just shows are schools are F grades all around. They have taught our children to not know they are stupid.
Mad props to Edward Norton for his performance in this film. When an actor makes you feel their character's absolute scorn and rage through a steel mask, you know they're a next level talent
Years ago my take on the Kings bitch slapping of Reynald was in part owing to him having to expend the last of his strength to lead the army into the desert to head off Saladin, knowing it would cost him his life. I believe we are meant to interpret it as his outrage at Reynalds actions jeopardizing the fragile peace with Saladin that he had worked so hard to maintain. Outstanding acting by Edward Norton who projected so much presence while being masked and covered up.
Baldwin not only forced the guy to kiss his hand, but in doing so he knowingly passed his leprosy on to him, basically executing him right then and there, you know how much the man fucked up when the king almost kills himself just to make your life a living hell

Why does badwin say I am Jerusalem is this the title of a king of Jerusalem for eg when salahuddin conquered Jerusalem would he call him self I am Jerusalem or was this just to show baldwin poweer over reynard but tuen in the fight scene salahuddin men said Jerusalem has come hope this makes sense
Baldwin IV's leprosy was so bad at this point, his whole body was rotting, and he rode the horse for at least 6 hours in the hot desert to clean up his mess.
