Anders Barslund is an architecture practice based in Sorgenfri, north of Copenhagen. My work is characterized by clever definitions of space, visual and spatial connections to the outdoors and a sophisticated palette of colours and materials.
20+ years in architecture Years in architecture. I opened for business in 2006, creating about 20 to 30 new projects a year that have become an impressive portfolio of new buildings, renovations and additions.
I am constantly studying and exploring the architectural intersection between nature and neuroaesthetics. These studies push how I design and think about architecture and the experience of space. I use my extensive material library as an interactive tool throughout the design process as I consider the entire impression of the spaces I create, including how different textures will work, particularly how they feel, smell, sound and react to light.
I don’t think I would have used the void with the beams. Lots of wasted space at level one. The exposed beams don’t look great, guess they were retained because it’s a existing house
Nice and informative. Thx for sharing! And one question: If I go with 0502-Y on the walls, what would them be the reccommended lighter tone for doors, pantries and ceiling?
Hi Iben. I'd go with NCS S 0500-N. Consider NCS S 1005-Y for the wall instead and NCS S 0502-Y for the trim and doors (as both windows and doors come in either RAL 9010 or NCS S 0502-Y as standard). Then give the ceiling NCS S 0500-N. Happy painting, and please share the video and channel with others 🙂
Hi Anders! Thanks so much for all the great info & video you've shared already! I am always looking forward to seeing something new from you. Is there any way I could watch this webinar? Thanks once more!
Hi Anders! Glad you're back on RU-vid! I would love it if we would be able to enjoy your new videos in English. Can you please consider adding English captions? At least an auto-translated /auto-generated Danish transcript, please?! Thank you for your great videos so far :)
At first i didnt belief what u say architecture is everywhere. The house which i stay hasnt the build in it but follow what u said it does have in certain ways like u mentioned axis of light. Interestingly while i work on it it does work. But not having this line of work i find alot of corrective work
I am a dutchman considering to move to denmark to live there with my girlfriend (dane) and we want to buy a farm around the area of Herning a/o in the west/northwest. Doe you or you firm operate there? Great video and work sir. Subscribing ;-)
Your designs are absolutely beautiful. I am a little frustrated by how fleeting your interior images are as I want just a little more time to drink it in, and a little sense of moving through the space. Thank you for the instruction and video.
The problem is that the handful of these designed by Le Corbusier were followed up by poorer examples by lesser architects, cheaply built and poorly maintained. They created a new kind of slum.
clean and simple, but not too minimal. Like your subspace concept. And fun to see some color, which seems to be out of fashion currently in US, replaced by dreaded grey.
Hello, I am an Architecture student from the Philippines. And our professor included this video on our modules. This is a brilliant example. This really proves the power of light in architecture, and also its relation to feelings and overall impression on a space. You really did an awesome work, sir!
Hi Heraya. Thank you very much for the kind words. I’m so happy to hear that word on good architecture gets around :-) You’re welcome to let you teacher know, that I’d be happy to give an online talk on the 7 architectual principles I work with daily. Letting light lead the way being one of them. I can easily be contacted by mail at hello@andersbarslund.com Best regards from Denmark
This is a piece of art! So very beautiful! Love the fireplace and love the oblong windows in what looks to be an office/living area. And the the outdoors look to be an extension of the living area. Also love the exterior of the home. A dream home to say the least. Please show some of your favorite homes you have designed.
GREAT ! I'd say, the Netherlands is the ONLY country to compete with the Danes in modern architecture! ) P.S. Comments? Well... I miss Henningsen lights!
Mr. Barslund: you are a genious in architecture. The way you brought natural light and nature into this home is simply amazing. I love your work and would hire you without a doubt when building a new home or remodeling an existing one. I am looking forward seeing other projects, either remodeling or homes built from the ground up. Much success for years to come.
