Main game Fun fact: You actually don't NEED TO defeat Popple in any battles where he has a partner. If you take out his partner, Popple run away, ending the battle. Taking out Popple is mainly for bonus exp and an extra item. The only time you have to defeat him is in his solo battle. Bowser's Minions: Squad review: Captain Boo's squad: Seems appropriate. Looks like these are your strongest units at this point. Captain Shy Guy's squad: Captain Shy Guy is fine, but the others seem a little bit underleveled... Captain Goomba's squad: Captain Goomba is way underleveled! He should be at least the same level as Captain Boo and Captain Shy Guy. Don't dismiss Captain Goomba just because he's a Goomba! Weak point: Your biggest issue with your melee squad is that Captain Goomba is underleveled. Level him up ASAP. Use melee beans or replay levels if you need to.

Well that was fun! A shame we had no time for the minion quest, but still, major progress! The other two Beanstar pieces will still be kinda easy, but they won't be as simple as the last one you got.
I'm SO mad I got here late, I have A LOT to say! Woohoo Hooniversity Troopeas/Paratroopeas: In the original, these guys were quadrupedal, rather than bipedal. Laser Snifit: Those laser rings came in WAY faster in the original; having them come in so slow was a nasty trip-up for me! The key is, you have to jump as late as you possibly can before it connects. If they get right in your face, DON'T jump. Viruses: These are the viruses are from Dr. Mario. Yellow is weak to jump (strangely), which wasn't a thing in the original. They have two unique properties: A) They change color if attacked. Blue turns yellow, yellow turns red, red turns blue. B) If all Viruses present are the same color (doesn't matter which), they all die at once. Eeker: The fireballs came out WAY faster in the original... Mechakoopas: Wait, THOSE weren't here in the original! What are THEY doing here? In the original, an enemy called a "Mecha-Chomp" was in this zone, but apparently they weren't brought back for the remake. If they're shorted out, the target is reversed. (Also, it's still safe to jump on while shorted out.) Barrels: Luigi doesn't seem to have too much luck with barrels in this game... 😅 Statue reaction (1:53:42): They changed the statue's reaction here. It was funnier in the original, imo. Barrel jumping 'minigame': [Reference: Donkey Kong (arcade)] Clones: There's literally no way to tell what the real one is just by looking at them. In the original, the only way to tell was by the attack. In this remake, they eliminated the need to 'guess' or wait on that one, but you have to be paying attention. Lightning: This attack ALWAYS targets both bros. If one hand is raised, it alternates with the raised hand indicating who it's going at FIRST. If both are raised, it's at the same time. Holes: That attack comes in kinda slow, so you have to wait for it to approach you rather than trying to pre-empt it. I don't blame you for getting caught by this, it tripped me up greatly too, despite me knowing what to do! * to be continued * (maybe)
(continuing) Oho Oasis There's not much to do here other than getting the new abilities. Disciples: If you look closely, the Thunder Palace disciple is wearing a moon headpiece and the Fire Palace Disciple is wearing a sun headpiece. Oho Jees: So these NPCs are unique in that they're the only overworld NPCs you can use Thunderhand/Firebrand on. (blue/red respectively) Doing this will cause them to battle you. They have unique gear that can only be obtained from them. They're resistant to jumps and are healed by their respective element and weak to the other. This is the only enemy in the game where the battle can be ended by healing them. They'll either attack, talk, run away (which sometimes fails), or heal you. Seabed New command block: Upon learning the hand powers, you have a "Hand Power" command block. Use this to attack with fire/electricity respectively. Some enemies are weak to fire/electric, some are healed by it, so experiment a bit and find out. Goomdivers: Curiously, they have a "grounded" mode and a "floating" mode. They're weak to jump in "floating" mode, which wasn't a thing in the original. Bloopers: They're weak to hammer, which wasn't a thing in the original. Also, you have no way of normally using hammer on these since they're "floating" enemies. They were also more predictable in the original, going in one set rhythm regardless of distance. Elite Pestnut: They're weak to fire, as are their normal counterparts back in Chucklehuck Woods. Also, as you noticed, removing their covering causes the Beanie underneath to float up and die. That death indicator was not in the original; it just floated up and presumably dies offscreen.
* even further continued * (I told you I had a lot to say.) Beanbean Outskirts Troopeas: (3:35:11) You finally noticed the "Hand Power" command! Also, strangely, they're weak to electric, which they were resistant to it in the original. Bonus minigame (3:52:14-3:53:40): It's a silly remix of the standard death jingle (not the "Game Over" jingle). It's a lot closer to the standard death jingle than it was in the original. Beanbean Airport Cutscene: There's a minor goof here in the original, where Luigi's voice clip was used instead of Mario's when he spoke to Lady Lima. Also, this is one of the few times in the game where you can see Luigi's "tea drinking" idle animation. New info obtained: I did NOT know you could do Hand Power first strikes! I actually learned something! Piranha Plant (R): Yes, it IS healed by fire, but it's weak to electric. Don't get discouraged using hand powers on enemies because it's healed by one element. It may be weak to the other! Piranha Plant (B): This one's healed by electric, but it's weak to fire. Boss: Follows the same rules as its minions. When red, it's healed by fire and weak to electric. When blue, it's healed by electric and weak to fire. Also, it's resistant to jumps. Beanbean Castle Hammerhead Bros.: This notification from these NPCs was NOT in the original. You had to kinda figure this out on your own. Minion Quest Reminder tip/suggestion: If there's minions of only 2 types, try to go with the type that's advantageous to one, but neutral to the other to avoid setting yourself at a disadvantage. If it's melee/ranged, try to go all melee. (Be careful of spikes though!) If it's ranged/flying, try to go all ranged. If it's flying/melee, try to go all flying. (Be careful of spikes though!) You may need to grind a bit if you're underleveled though! Replay older missions if you need to.
Side note: The minion quest is a bit grindy at times, so you may have to replay levels several times to either recruit certain minions and/or level grind. Reminder: Beanish creatures are considered "enemies" and cannot be recruited.
