Don't go on a Danube cruise in october. I went in October 2023 and the last 45 miles going east toward budapest was closed to boats. October is typically the shallowest month for the eastern Danube. All in all trip was good , food very good not great, and the service excellent.

Gil & family, Arliss, Gil Jr. & Susan were my fathers good friends when I was growing up in the 1960's, Both were in the Korean war but I think my dad new Gil through Arliss. I remember as a little kid him giving me some extra change so both Gil Jr. & I would have the same amount to buy goodies at the store. Sometimes on the weekend my father Allet Sr. would drive a long way so we could have a weekend stayover. It was always a lot of lot of fun , & I was super excited when I got to stay there & play with Gil jr. We used to love glow in the dark stuff. Good memories.

I miss my Dad. I know the last couple of years was very hard on him. We did the best we could in making sure he was taken care of. Dad definitely supported the family in our growing up. I have fond memories and felt secure. One was our several visits to our grandparents in Bellingham. That was fun. Dad would take me to Seahawk games where I learned the game of football. He would explain each play so I could understand the game and I got to enjoy them. A wonderful family memory was when dad took the adult kids on an Alaska Cruise. He loved family time and we all enjoyed it. Recently have been going through a lot of pictures of Dad and Mom when they first dated and then got married. What a good looking couple! I feel blessed to have been one of their children. Will see them again!

Great memories of dad taking me to the Seattle Pilots (before they became the Milwaukee Brewers), UW Huskies, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Seattle SuperSonics. Also, at the Burien house, the tropical fish tanks built into the wall and the endless hours of HO slot car racing on the 4 lane track dad built. Lastly, from 2006-2011, when I filled the position as the Public Information Officer for Des Moines PD, I would call dad when I had an interview with the media. He would record the news segment when it was televised. Dad loved to record news, games, tv shows, and movies. Bobby Collins Jr

Wow, I had forgotten about the fish tanks! When Ken and I were first married, I used to go downstairs to play Dad’s piano, since I didn’t have one of my own. (It was there near the fish tanks). A year later when we bought our first home, Dad surprised me by giving me his piano. All of our kids learned to play on that piano. When Stephanie, our youngest, bought her first home, Dad’s piano, now well over 100 years old, found a new loving home. Hopefully Rosie will be the 4th generation to learn to play on it! You can see a little of it in the video at 0:53. 😊.

I will always remember playing cards with Dad! We played Hearts as a family for years, until we switched to Chicago Rummy. Now we play it with all our kids when we can find the time, and we’ll all remember Dad’s subtle way of playing-and usually winning with a little smirk! Funny that we don’t have a picture of him playing cards. Guess we were all too busy trying to beat him to think about stopping to take a picture! We will all surely miss you, Dad!

What a beautiful celebration for such a grand gentleman. His love of God and family certainly was a magnificent gift to all of us who have been fortunate enough to meet his family. Thank you for sharing such a warm and wonderful tribute.
