@@mohibquadri4053 My work is focused on helping managers navigate leadership situations so I wouldn't be the right person to ask for this type of recommendation.
Too Good 💎 What would be some best books to read for on this topic and becoming more proactive in times of self doubt and challenges.. i am facing job search process after a big career gap of more than 4 yrs due to family reasons..
Hi @mohibquadri4053- A great resource for prioritization is The Eisenhower Matrix. As it relates to your career gap and self doubt, I would recommend the book The Confidence Gap: A Guide to Overcoming Fear and Self-Doubt by Russ Harris. Also, try and get creative in your job search. You may want to explore getting your foot in the door through a contract role instead of facing higher competition in applying to full time jobs. Also, lean into your network- that's how 70-80% of jobs are filled. Good luck!
@@amysanchez137 Thanks a Ton 😊 One more query Amy - what do you do to tackle the feelings of Hopelessness which can grab a person into worrying.. are there any top books on Optimism that can provide insights to defeat it..
@@mohibquadri4053 What you are describing is a mindset challenge- understandable when you're trying to find a job to support a family. The key is to train your mind to replace hopelessness with Hope- so that you exude confidence and have the energy to search for and find the right opportunity. Depending on where you are among the hopelessness spectrum, therapy may be the right option for you if books are not helping and you find it difficult to take action. I wish you all the best.
Ive been with my company for 7 years, and have been declined for a promotion twice... it hurts so badly, but I feel i have no choice to leave. But i dont want to.
I'm sorry to hear that- it's understandable that would be painful. There is likely a reason you are not getting a promotion after seven years. Ask for feedback to understand why and if you don't get a clear answer, keep respectfully asking until you uncover the root cause. You also may ask for a 360 so you can garner feedback from others to help support your understanding and development. Then, act on that feedback and make improvements. If you keep respectfully asking but don't get clear feedback as to why you're not getting promoted, it may be time to explore new options.
This is great, my only problem is - what if you have a team member who isn't doing anything you need them to STOP doing? when the company is requiring something 'negative' for the 'STOP' this seems unfair when taken literally by a corporate structure
hi @aeonjoey- thanks for weighing in. Every time I run this exercise, it's very cathartic for the participating team because they have a space to voice the concerns that have been circling the team. You'll find the "stop" will highlight productive suggestions (i.e.- let's stop having so many meetings). It can also help to unearth issues that have been festering beneath the surface for the team. Your job as the leader of this exercise is to guide the team to find a solution to the "stop" rather than allow the team to dwell in the negative. Good luck!
Hi Rehan- Good question! For this exercise, you will do all three (start, stop, continue) in one workshop. You'll find similarities across the three areas and doing it all at once gets the juices flowing and results in conclusive action steps you'll want to assign owners to at the end.
Thank you for this awesome tutorial. It helped me set up my LinkedIn. Do you have any video on how to add photos or videos from RU-vid and Instagram account to LInkedIn?
Hi Jazon- I'm glad it was helpful! My focus is less on the technical side of LinkedIn and more about how to find your dream job but I add RU-vid videos by including the RU-vid URL in my post and then featuring them on my LinkedIn account. LinkedIn help may be a better resource for you. Good luck!
