“What I find so helpful in your e-books and online lessons is that you help me to weave together the dribs and drabs I’ve already picked up, and to incorporate new ideas, concepts, and techniques in a somewhat orderly, logical context. I’m actually internalizing the difference between a minor 7th and a half-diminished! Your pace in the e-book is neither too simplistic nor too complex.” - Jim G

“I’ve been playing guitar for 30 years, without a teacher - I was impressed with Jamie’s youtube vids so I booked a lesson. I was unsure of Skype lessons, but it worked out fine - a good listener, Jamie gave me some fresh playing and practice ideas to help me out of a rut.”

Great video! One piece of feedback: having a similar overlay showing the pattern/notes on a music staff would make it much easier to follow along (pausing in between to try out ourselves, etc).

beautiful guitar man. Love that version of Round Midnight. Don't sweat the multiple teles. I have done it. Some guitars will speak to you and some wont. We are only here for a short while, best not waste our time settling for an instrument we have to fight with. At age 58, I have probably owned upwards of 100 guitars. Now I only have three. Of those hundred I can think of only two I regret selling. A telecaster that someone had pretty heavily upgraded, and and Heritage 535. The rest hold good memories but I don't regret letting them go. Lately I have been on a kick of playing one of my guitars each week all week. This way I kind of fool myself into that new guitar feeling. Love your videos man.

Best tone I have heard from a Strat in a long while. Hardtail? It doesn’t have that “boing” that Strats have from the trem springs.
@jamieholroydguitar
@jamieholroydguitar 2 дня назад
Thank you very much. It’s a tremeko but I did do a video comparing this exact guitar to a hard tail if you look through my old videos.

I own 6 Guitars but if I really have to choose one, classical guitar being my principal instrument, I would choose the one with a cut away instead of the more expensive and beautiful sounding other classical guitar without the cut away.

It’s basically a vintage spec instrument with a modern neck and pickups. I own two of these now. One is vintage blonde with maple and the other is Sherwood green with rosewood. I bought them about a year apart, both were in excellent condition and I think they’re awesome and the Texas Specials are excellent. If you search there’s a lot of amazing FSR colours over the years. Fiesta Red, Shell Pink, Daphne Blue, violin burst (hand rubbed), Black, Natural, Surf Green and Aztec Gold with matching headstocks! Then stock models came in Olympic White, Lake Placid Blue, Sunburst, etc. Damn I want them all!😄😁😃 By the way my blonde Tele seems to have a thicker neck than most modern C I’ve played. Very noticeable after playing my Highway One Teles which are great too. The Am Spec have CTS pots, Oak switch and grease bucket tone control. I would prefer Kluson style tuners as they conceal the string ends and 21 frets would have been cooler than the 22 fret overhang.

I lost out on buying a MM amp In 1979. I finally got a HD 130 head in 1988 and still use it today. The first cabinet was a peavy that I put in an ElectroVoice 15” from 1980. Since 2009 I’ve used Hartke XL 410 and 115 cabinets. The head has the 4 original EL 34 tubes as well as the Sylvania Milspec rectifier tube. It hasn’t needed any servicing or repairs. The sound is very linear, clear, responsive to my basses.

Beautiful. I would like to ask you Mr. Holroyd: I want to play a Strat equipped with a bridge ceramic humbucker for jazz (Metal - forward pickup) and i want to know if i could achieve a desirable effect by lowering heavily the tone and volume on the guitar and the amplifier as well... best regards

Fender Twin Reverb and Yamaha T 100 C (both tube amps) gave me my favourite jazz sound on my archtops. Both amps are extremely heavy, though... so I've sold them long ago. Polytone Megabrute and (more recently) DV Mark Little Jazz are my go to amps now. Love them both.

From side of physics, two pickups “breaking” more the strings as on pickup, and the resonance of guitar is diferent. Of course, two pickups removing more material from the guitar body which infuences the sound too. The best to have guitars with both solution. 😃
