Hey there! Welcome to Tall Lanky Guy! My name is Connor, and while I run the channel and edit the videos, there's a whole cast of characters that make it what it is. My friend Emmett and I make up the Game Boys, I play horror games with Alisha in Spook Date, plus a whole bunch of friends join me for bi-weekly livestreams! If there's a game you'd like to see me play, let me know in the comments! Aside from that, I make album reaction videos and the odd podcast. It's a good time.
I think it was high cello, not horns, on the last one. Loving your Hozier reactions - you pick out things I hadn’t noticed on any of my repeated listens, especially in the instrumentation and production.
37:49 okay I'm 100% sampling that. (Unless told otherwise) That shit made me laugh out loud in public. Time to go downloaded the entire video audio and spend 15 minutes trying to find a 2 second clip lol😅
I've always really respected how Davey (the real guy) put out a game that makes him look like a bad person, if you believe the narrative is real. It was years after release that he talked about the game for the first time. I loved your play-through of it, especially as you're a creative person yourself and picked up on some of the themes right away hah. It's such a good portrayal of the ego and the need for validation. I don't know of any other (good) meta games about art, but wish I did. The Beginner's Guide fits in a mental category for me that includes Edith Finch, Before Your Eyes, and Outer Wilds. If you're reading comments and don't mind, what are some other games you've done on this channel that stand out to you as good stories or emotionally engaging?
@@Adam-dd9lo Thanks for your kind words! I’ve actually already played Edith Finch, and Outer Wilds is high up on my list. For other games that play with narrative, Stanley Parable is of course a great next choice (I played the “extended version” with my sibling), as well as A Game Called Paako, which was pretty directly inspired by this game.
This man just won't stop cooking. Hozier's out to cater a greek wedding, he's running an all-you-can-eat buffet. I love the way Nobody's Soldier opens. I'm convinced he was deliberately making it sound like an air raid alarm.
I wanted to give you my take on the meaning behind Lavish! Because boy it is a weird song, but I think it holds a lot of goodness. This whole album to me is an update of where Tyler is at mentally. I think he is showing us that although he isn't healed from his mental illness he is doing better. Lavish is Tyler explaining that now that he isn't wanting to die, he feels like he is living a lavish life. He doesn't feel like he necessarily deserves or belongs in a world where everything is okay but he faked it till he made it. Now the little things in life feel nice! Sipping a capri-sun, being able to support the people that work for him, stuff like that. The proctologist line is actually the line that really brought me to this conclusion. The biggest problem in his life now is exactly that! It's no longer the fact that when he gets home he will spiral and want to die. Anyway, that's the best I got behind the meaning of Lavish! I'm glad you liked the album :)
I have to arrest you on that "genocide" bullshit. Israel is not trying to kill palestinians. Israel is trying to kill Hamas. And it happens to be that Hamas and the Palestinian is very often the same ting. If Israel wanted to kill all Palestinians, they could do that within a week. So don't give me this "genocide" hashtag bullshit. Palestinians murders Jews in the most bestial way possible. 7 of October saw what Muslims thinks of the Jew. Decapitations. Rape, Murder in their beds. Burning people alive. Dragging naked, dead bodies of young Israelis girls through the streets. You would think that is evil. Yes? But no. What is evil is that the "Palesinian" loved it. So many videos has surfaced with palestinian "warriors" comming out of a Jewish house, smiling and laughing after killing everyone inside. Fuck "Palestine" I for one is with Israel.
oh you're another victim of propaganda alright. "it happens to be that Hamas and the Palestinian is very often the same ting" alright so tell me, are all those beheaded children part of hamas? let me repeat, **CHILDREN**. not to mention that israel hasn't been killing palestinians this year only. this has been going on for DECADES. people have been vocal about the on-going occupation of palestinian land for DECADES, but of course people like you cry "hamas" everytime someone tries to show you the true part of history. and let me tell you, the israeli government and the IDF literally don't care about the hostages, they use that as an excuse to continue this genocide, only thing they want is the land
OK lengthy, but frankly this is one of the best reactions I've seen/heard. I particularly like your breakdowns of the tracks afterward - some of the best thoughts and feelings expressed in the format that I've come across. Definitely feels like experiencing someone who really thinks and feels about the world, as does Aurora herself, course; and that's a valuable thing. My favourite band, Everything Everything, also had an album out recently - Mountainhead - that tackles some similar themes albeit it a very different way. They're worth a listen. They're a band with a much smaller reach than Aurora, and I totally understand that, for the engagement of your channel, you'd probably be drawn to larger acts. It might even just be worth your listening to their stuff purely for your own entertainment. Thanks for the really engaging listen. It's also nice to know how common it is for there to be people who really do care about what's going on in Palestine and want to do something positive to help the situation. I think there's a lot more humanity out here than we sometimes think because we get exposed to too much of the negative side. Take care, and good luck with all you do in the future.
You need to rethink verse two of Lavish. The problem is, your proctologist has both hands on your shoulders. So that’s no hand up your butt. I think he’s telling most artists what the industry is doing to them.
I hate Take Me Back to Eden's fade out too. Even though there's a reason for it, it's frustrating. Not saying you have to do it for the channel, but I hope you've watched some of II's offerings. Drum cams from concerts too, especially for the solo he adds during The Summoning's interlude. Feel like that's something you might enjoy. And I hope you enjoyed Sundowning. Anyway, thanks for the reactions, they were fun. Subbed.
@@itallo.raphael Glad you enjoy it! I cut parts of the song in the hopes that when the video gets demonetized I can dispute the claims. Also as a video editor I find the extended bits where I’m just sitting and listening bring down the pacing of the video. I’ve been planning to make uncut versions for the higher tier of my Fourthwall site, so that’d be the route to make that happen. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for the great reaction! I learned a lot from your analysis. And also, thank you for the heartfelt message at the end: "The people that are suffering over there have the same blood as you and I, and always will." It's such a beautiful tribute to this great album. I'll donate as much as I can. Thank you!
This is brilliant! Thank you for an awesome reaction 😃 She will be touring North America this fall so hopefully u get to go and see her because it is just not to be missed!
I had to finish this reaction in 3 different sessions because I wanted to give it my proper attention. I completely agree with you about how cathartic "Some Type of Skin" is. It's so hard to choose favorites on this album because I relate to so much of the lyrical content. Also, off topic, but has anyone ever told you that you have a beautiful nose? It complements the rest of your features perfectly. Respectfully, of course. lol. I don't mean to sound weird. I just can't help but notice a great nose. I love Aurora's nose, too. 😂
"This was a triumph I'm making a note here, "Huge success" It's hard to overstate my satisfaction..." on your deeply moving, informative and beautiful reaction💯❣ Never imagined ever that I would be spending 3 hours watching a reaction and enjoying it so much! Hope Aurora gets to see this😇
