I'm Simon (or Si for short), and I'm a British-born Canadian with a passion for cars and sim racing. I'm the founder of S1 Racing and on the channel you'll find content related to cars, sim racing and live streams for all the major endurance races we run in.
The channel started out as a simple place to live stream our races but it has evolved to cover sim racing guides, performance cars, and we have plans to broaden the content further in the years ahead!
I'm currently driving for Porsche Centre Langley in the Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge (PESCC) series, you can find all the details here: www.iracing.com/pcl/
Nice car indeed (I had one of the first RS 5's that came out in late 2012), but a car monthly payment the size of a house mortgage got old pretty quick.
Sorry if you weren’t expecting that. I do cover the .ini files backup procedure in the first part of the video and hitting the config button is usually only needed if you’re encountering problems
@@S1Races I have an 2019 RS5 50k miles looking to trade up Rs6 performance really like your spec. I have this intake www.eventuri.net/products/audi-8y-rs3/ So car is fast 💨 correct would you consider stage 1 at some point? I probably won’t get mine until late spring summer of next year.
I can't for the life of me figure out how to stream only my center screen. It seems to only want to capture all 3. I was hoping to find the solution to this under your explanation of the sources
Are you using nvidia surround or AMD's equivalent? If you are running native triple screens you should be able to choose any monitor from OBS to capture
Just picked up my C8 RS6 Performance yesterday and was going to put a Capristo on but i think the AWE might be the go... i need to open up that rumble!
Yeah Akra was the other main one I looked at. To be honest the cost put me off a bit and I felt the AWE system was a good balance between performance, looks and overall price
Hi Simon, I recently upgraded to triple Samsung 1440p 32” screens with a 1000R curve and used your video to set them up. I was wondering what angle you set your monitors to?
Should work fine with triples but bear in mind you’re pushing a lot more pixels than me at 4K. Worth keeping an eye on GPU and CPU usage when doing practice sessions to see if you’re bottlenecking anywhere
Yeah I’ve always just raced and streamed from the same pc. I also had the same concerns when I started out but so long as you’re using the hardware encoder in your GPU, I find the impact to fps is minimal. The only time I’ve had issues is when I accidentally had the CPU doing the stream encoding and then that is a big hit to fps
Awesome, Simon! Great video and thanks for talking us through the track. Appreciated you going over the car too. You picked up the track so fast and owned it!
Nice facility and thanks for sharing the experience - especially all the details around what it was like to drive. If you ever get the chance, I can highly recommend the PalmerSport full day experience in Bedford. Still probably my most memorable day of driving.
What do you mean exactly by the OBS tab and are you just streaming your centre screen? A fourth monitor is only really needed if you don’t want to alt-tab to check on your stream whilst it’s running, otherwise it can just be running in the background
Yeah it’s plenty, you’ll be set with that kit. I’m running 32GB, 5800x3d, 4090 and streamings isn’t a bit hit. Just make sure you are using your 4070 hardware to do the stream encoding and not your CPU.
Windows keeps telling me it cannot find the app.ini file. I even tried to re install from scratch and it still wont open. It just says error are you sure you typed the correct file name. Clicking on the file and it still wont work
That seems odd, when you run a test session for the first time, iRacing creates the .ini files it needs and places them in the iRacing folder in your Documents folder. Do you not see them in that folder?
Thanks for the great review! I'm waiting for an RS6 performance and wondering what's your winter setup (wheels and tires)? Yours seems awesome 👌 I would like 21" as well for the winter, did you need any spacers? Also did you put paint protection? Many thanks and enjoy :)
Thanks, glad it was useful! Congrats on your order, when's it due? My winter set up is: VOSSEN HF-2 21x10.5 5-112 ET15, tires are Nokians. We also did paint protection over a bunch of areas on the car, as well as ceramic coating on the other bits. If you check this video, I go over all the protection we added. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nx8F-_3YBGE.html
Yup I have a single buttkicker hooked up to the LFE settings in iRacing. I have it placed under my seat and I love the additional feel and track / tire information it provides
Didn't have an iPad handy when I recorded, I think the only difference is which app to use to keep the display always on and brightness up, assuming you can't do that within the iPad settings?
