Hi Josh, very nice driving. What are the best mods you have done to your MiTo? I am thinking of getting some of the DNA-goodies, but what type coil-overs do you run?
Hi Jenz. The best mods you can do are a decent set of coilovers (i ran Bilstein B14s) decent tyres and a rear anti roll bar. These are what I found to make the best difference.
It's not supposed to be a chore, lol. Rain, wind, cold, sunshine, warm, just enjoy the challenge and the fact that you're immersed in stunning surroundings. End of the day you're basically taking a long walk on a relatively easy man made path up a very large hill, not attempting an epic journey to the top of Mt Everest.
You say 200hp how did you get that number?? Remap I’m guessing but which company?? And do you have supporting engine mods ie intake or inter cooler or exhaust.
It was remapped by WYT which read 210bhp peak on their dyno but its known for reading high. Car is fitted with BMC intake, forge intercooler and custom turbo back exhaust. Could potentially get a few more BHP out the car with a day spent on the dyno doing a proper map but its not worth it to me.
@@joshcoe1 they are awkward buggers to tune to be honest. They make very good power from the factory but more is always nice. I’m 18 (birthday was this month) so 170 is very good for my age I think especially from my 75bhp 206, but I deffo want more soon
@@joshcoe1 it was very cheap to insure that’s what sold me over a GTI ! It will be my daily driver but I’m going to set it up for fast road applications so want around 200-215 bhp.
@JoshyC I just got my Mito back from the tuner and he told me the solution for the traction control issues. I just tried it and it works! Your ABS will stay on, but ASR, VDC and Hill Assist will turn off. In the mid-tunnel is a ESP sensor. If you cut the black wire and make a switch you can turn it on/off. If you would like to see how I did it I can send you some pictures. Hope it works for you to! The only thing I don't know if you can put it in Dynamic after you flipped the switch. My tuner remapped my car so it's the same on N and D.
Hi Lorenzo. I did actually try this but I really don't like the way the car feels in normal mode without the electronic differential 😔. I've given up trying to find a solution to it now and just accepted it. Thanks for your message though 🙂
Did you find a solution for the esp/tc issue? I went to the track yesterday for the first time with this car and it really irritated me. My "99 206gti with no adjustments is faster then my Mito. I felt like i had minimum power mid corner with full throttle.
The short answer unfortunately is no. The only thing I've found which helps is to run really good tyres. The car is on Avon ZZR semi slick tyres and the tc/esp rarely cuts in.
@@joshcoe1 i have the michelin pilot sport cup 2, but it really felt like it didn't go in the exit. don't know how to translate it correctly in english, but when my steering wheel was straight it felt like i got full power at once. i hope my tuner can turn off the tc/esp when i get the new turbo, or maybe when i get the 260hp/350nm it doesnt matter anymore 😅
The exact same weather we had 4 years ago and the exact same path we took as well. brought back the memories and I want to do it again but a different route and in different weather. Good effort to get up in those conditions, cheers Alan
For you driving way, you looks like a professional pilot. I have a MITO QV too, and i expects someday drive my car in the way you do. Grettings from Argentina.
Cheers man. I dont like disturbing people and them feeling like they're being watched while they work as its something I hate when I'm working but much appreciated 👍🏻
@@joshcoe1 Nice to ear that worked fine to you. I tried them but did not fit well. That’s why I asked you. Now I would like to try the Sparco ones. Thanks for the quick reply!!
@@carlosvf11 I needed to do a little bit of modification to mine. They we're about 6/10 on fitment so had to adjust some of the holes. Disappointing with the price of them 😔
@@joshcoe1 aaaah just has happened to me, but thought that for the price that lack of precission was unacceptable. That is why am triyng other options.
Hi JoshyC, Carlos from Spain. I'm also starting to trackday my Mito Qv, and would like to know a bit all the mods you've done, since I just know what you've said from the Vlog 2 due to the poor audio of the first. Thanks a lot!!
Hi Carlos. If you are just starting out on trackdays, I would recommend a set of coilovers (i run Bilstein B14), some high temp brake fluid (i use ate typ200) and some decent front brake pads (start with Ferodo DS2500 before moving up to DS3000 once you get quicker). The most important thing when starting out is to get used to the car and improve yourself as a driver. Then you start to look and upgrading the car 🙂
@@joshcoe1 thanks a lot again, for the quick reply!! Yes, your advice has a lot of sense. Im running on EBC YellowStuff and upgraded brake fluid, as well as Nankang semis and backet seat. Really nice upgrades and Im considering coilovers has you have also adviced me. Thanks!!
@@carlosvf11 a set of coilovers will help massively. Especially if you are already running NS2-R/AR-1 tyres. The MiTo does tend to roll a bit on standard suspension. After that I would recommend a rear anti roll bar then look at getting negative camber put in on the wheels to reduce understeer. They take a bit of setting up the MiTo but drive well once upgraded.
@@carlosvf11 yes its lower. Couldnt tell you how much by though and I have 10mm spacers on all 4 corners. I am also running 225 with tyres and have no rubbing 👍🏻
Well done guys, looked a tough walk but made fro a good video. Planning to do it this summer but all depends on Restrictions. Shame you didn’t get a summit view too and I can only imagine how hard the way down would be, atb!
Somehow Im not able to find your Instagram account... anyway Im about to upgrade my mito and it will be done by an alfa specialist here in the netherlands who race their own cars at zandvoort. I showed him your blogs and the struggle with understeer/esp kicking in too much. He advised a big sway bar on the front combined with powerflex front/rear and coilovers. Reason for the front arb according to him is the huge flex at the front end that gives the front wheels positive camber when turning hard and thus reducing turn in, and front grip. He actually did this to his own mito and its on rails according to him.
I came off Instagram a couple of months back so that will probably be why you cant find me 😂 I've found that front camber and rear camber has helped massively with the handling of the car. I dont personally see a need to update the front ARB as that would tend to lean more towards creating understeer by stiffening up the front end. The mods I've done to it seem to have all come together with the rear camber plates. The car feels really really good now on track.
Try going in and out with the impact gun when the bolts are stuck. Helps clear the threads up. Don’t use your torque wrench to undo either, it won’t be accurate when you use it to torque stuff.
A torque wrench is fine to use to undo bolts so long as its used within its allowed torque range. Its only if you're over stretching the internal spring by exceeding the allowed maximum torque where you will have issues with the wrench coming out of calibration 👍🏻
Just made it to the end, and wow... shows how the conditions can change from relatively clear looking like it might clear up to snow! Hope you enjoyed the experience!
@@joshcoe1 at least not in winter lol! I've recently started working for myself and with the freedoms to travel during the week now when places are quieter, I've pencilled in trips to national 3 peaks like you. Then lockdown happened :( have you any advice for scaling Scafell or Big Ben please?
I would just say take your time with it. Go at your pace and take it all in. Its not a race, its an experience. Make sure you have plenty of water no matter what weather you do them im and plenty of easy to eat food.
Im looking forward to actually being able to doing Snowdon. Hopefully the Uk will get back to some form of normality by early summer and we can get out again. Best of luck with your goals and I hope you enjoy it as much as you can!
Here from your Scafell Pike vid, now watching this one after I saw you had some car vids too! Subbed - I love hiking and cars too so glad to have found you!
Its off the road now waiting for a complete overhaul/refurb when I can get round to it. I bought it as a project car and I think it'll eventually replace the Alfa once finished.
Cannot beat an early start and the last time I did it (May 2015) the top third was thick of snow. Great effort, great cause and good luck with Snowdon, cheers Alan
It was slow going up top but proud of us both for managing to do it. Thank you for the support Alan. Hopefully the covid rules will relax and allow me to get it done sooner rather than later!
@@joshcoe1 currently sat in street awaiting an engine rebuild over winter as engine i put in has shagged rings it seems as its blowing oil out the breather. It will either be done by March latest or getting sold but i wanna build it as i enjoy driving it tbh
loving the mods on the Mito; would be great to see a video of the external and internal modifications, and one of the performance mods! keep up the great content buddy!
Brilliant driving there Josh👍.. Did the rear a/r bar make much difference? I just bough a mito lowered 30mm ish n bilstein shocks.. A bit disappointed with handling.. Seems quiet understeer, tho it has cheap tyres all round.. Cheers👍
Cheers Colm. The rear ARB makes the car turn in to a corner nicer and makes it feel a bit more alive. I would recommend some decent tyres first though.
Thanks Josh. . appreciate the reply👍..do you know if there's any way of disengaging the stability control/abs/traction control?. short of dumping the whole loom!.
